I personally totally hate it. Especially water splashing after the sunset.

  • The problem with the Pattaya Songkran is that it goes on too long and it attracts the worse kind of foreigners who try to knock people off of their scooters, and other bad behaviour disguised as "fun"

There was no water splashing in 2020, 2021 and 2022. What a happy time!

I don't hate it, but I do grow weary of this same poll coming up year after year.

You missed a 3rd option:

3. I can adapt and tolerate it

You mean, staying in your room all day?

Added the "I don't care" option

No, go out in the mornings and late at night. If I want to drink in the afternoon I go to an enclosed bar early and stay inside until dark after water stops

This year, they splash water even after midnight!

One day water fights would be enough, now many businesses suffer, Thais go home to avoid, people stay home instead.

I'd like to see which businesses actually made more money the Songkran week, 100s made less money

It's way too long and the reason it's way too long (tourism money) is fake.

What's to like?

It's a nightmare.

Actually people spend less during the water-splashing week. They either play water or stay in their rooms. Normal tourist activities are disrupted.

Hotels are booked solid at premium rates in a time of year that would normally be slow and the wet tourists DO spend.

You don't need a week-long water-splashing madness for that. One or two days would be enough. Over a week, even tourists get bored and annoyed.

Bar owners scared of their bargirls keep this rubbish going on too long.

Don't like it.

But let the people enjoy there festival.

it's easily avoided,  if your not going to work every day.

Happy Songkran to you all.

I was there in 1996. Seems like it was closer to 2 weeks back then. Very tiresome.

Crikey, look at this in the street.

Could be one of those Maxwell Smart building entrance thingamajigs. 😎

I'd say those foreigners got a surprise dousing, they don't look happy, I reckon it's their first Songkran 😁

Really bad for the bars.

I personally flee the country for Songkran and am in Macau for the duration. With 2 Thai ladies.
