Are markets still relevant?

Recommended Posts

Are markets such as the Night Bazaar in Pattaya etc still relevant?

But must say I Iove secondhand markets or trash n treasure as they used to call them

I love the one at Jomtien on a Sunday all the trash n treasure, shoes etc

Mind you I love the soi Bukhao markets on a Friday I buy the second hand t shirts etc

But

let's talk about ones such as the night bazaar selling  new shirts ,spin off brands etc I have to haggle with what they look like Burmese or Nepalese ?

Most of this you can cheaper off Lazada and Temu can you not?

And the trouble of haggling ,how much is this t shirt than I can buy in Kmart back home possible cheaper

It's ok I guess if you need something right now AND you can manage to haggle it down

Let's face how do you haggle ?

Are you a good haggler at markets?

Are markets dying out ?

Not that I have seen, and not for me.

I do not go to a market to save money.

I go there to enjoy something that is unique and entertaining for me.

Seems a lot of Thai people agree with my sentiment.

Yes for me the secondhand markets

but I can't see anything entertaining walking around say the night bazaar in Pattaya with everyone selling the same thing

If i wanted some golf shirts i might go to the market for Adidas etc, usually very good quality, other than that i avoid, i dislike slow walking people getting in the way. I buy off Lazada almost every day, much prefer online.

BTW second hand furniture market on Soi Ko Pai

I hope the Theprasitt market never closes down.

It's always a good perve, checking out the chicks, a little chat, walking around with a cold beer.

Crikey, I wasn't aware she was there......cheap 👍

I'm usually looking at the pretties, I should spend some time looking at what the vendors have to offer. 👀

Is this the one on Sundays opp /near the Dr Oliver clinic?

She was there at the weekend, night market, near the street, opposite a Hitachi sign on Thepprasit. Dr Olivier is the bottom end of Thepprasit

Are they still profitable?  That's all that really matters.

I have to wonder..though...I get the feeling sometimes several of the stalls are controlled by one group being Nepalese

If they weren't making a profit, what would be their purpose? Some sort of front for another activity?
