? about 60day extension of stay for family

Hello read a few threads but couldnt find anything on this.

 

I'm currently on a 30day from a border run. I just got made marriage officially legal last week. I'm not all set up for a non 0 yet. As I understand I can now get a 60 day visit family extension. For this will I go to CW or the other spot where you do extensions for people on 30 days? 

 

Also is there any special documents I will need. Obv marriage cert but anything else from wife etc.

Depending on the amount of time you require, you could consider obtaining a 30 day extension followed by 60 day extension to visit wife.

So I can do a standard 30 day extension and then follow it up with a 60 day to visit wife? 

 

I just assumed I could only do one or the other. Thats pretty awesome if thats the case.

Yes.

Obtain the 30 first followed by the 60.

Wife needs to be with you for the 60 extension to visit wife.

 

For the 30 extension you would apply IT mall LakSi.

You can make an appointment.

Let's get this absolutely straight (cos it sounds too good to be true!!):
 

Enter Thailand 30 days exempt.

Get extension of 30 days.

Now (with my Thai wife at my side) I apply for a 60-day to visit my wife. 

That gives me 120 days in the country before I have to leave????

 is that correct?

Sweet deal for married folk..

Or enter with a non O (90 days) and obtain 60 extension to visit wife.

= 150 days and only one visit to immigration

Just to dot the i's and cross the t's:

 

My wife, Thai, living with me everywhere and all the time, and entering LoS with me, "counts" as someone I am "visiting"??

 

Also, is that 60 day visa extendible by 30 days (or more?)

No.

Regards yes you will be able to obtain the 60 "to visit wife" even though she travels with you.

She needs to attend immigration with you for the extension.

 

Note that the 60 extension is available once for each entry to Thailand (new visa/visa exempt) 

Example enter visa exempt and subsequently obtain 60 extension.

Exit Thailand and reenter on another visa exempt you could obtain a 60 day extension.

 

Thinking good option is enter non O marriage plus 60 to visit wife for a 150 day stay.

In the list of things needed for the non-O marriage, it mentions:

To visit as the relative of a Thai national, the applicant must show documents
proving such a relationship.
Step 1 – Online e-Visa Application:
Complete the online e-Visa Application at https://thaievisa.go.th/and upload the
following documents in PDF or JPG formats:
1. Photo taken with a light color background with a full- face view of the person
without wearing a hat or dark glasses and covering up shoulders
2. Photo taken while holding passport with a light color background with a full- face
view of the person without wearing a hat or dark glasses and covering up shoulders
3. A copy of Passport (must not expire within 6 months)
4. Proof financial showing monthly income minimum 40,000 Baht (for last two

of the spouse’s Thai Passport or Thai National I.D. card. Fiancés are not included in

In #4, we are talking non-Thai bank???  That is, you have to show what is in your non-Thai bank account, (since I do not have a Thai bank account).

Sorry to push this, Dr J, but what is your opinion of reversing the methods:

1. Apply for Tourist Visa -  60 days.

2. Apply inside Thailand for non O (family)- 90 days.

Does applying inside Thailand make the process in any way "easier"??

The difference is that to obtain a non O in Thailand you require funds to be in Thai bank account in your name only on day of application.

You do not have a Thai bank account.

 

Added tip: if you obtain the non O eVisa outside of Thailand then you will have more simple path to opening Thai bank account.

That then would provide you with more options in the future.

That really depends on your long term plans.

Do you intend to stay in Thailand now, or return to your home Country and visit regularly?

Wouldn't retirement visa require 800k in Thai  bank?  And marriage visa = 400 k in Thai bank?

Yes, granted the money is always "yours", but a bit of a bother, no?

Was suggesting using income method. 

 

Also for marriage extension using money in the bank ....the 400k only needs to be in Thai bank account for 2 months + under consideration period and can then be used.

Those funds would be used over the course of 12 months. 

Rince and repeat for next extension.
