Getting Older: Do you still fantasize about being famous? (Maybe, your greatest regret?)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Dear Folks,

I have always wished I might have been famous in my life, just once.

And, why is this?

I wish I might have been famous enough, like David Bowie, to appear on Soul Train, just once.

What is your Fame Fantasy?

Do you dare to tell, here on this Famous Forum?

Why not?

Are you not anonymous here on TV?

If I had been granted my wish, when I was younger, and even now, I would have opted to do this:

Some Psychiatrists will tell you that an obsession with becoming famous is maladaptive.

Do you believe this?

I do not.

I believe that it is not too late for me to be famous.

I just need to get lucky.

So, anyway, here is what some researchers say about our need and fascination and, almost constant daydreaming, with becoming famous.  And, also, I would like to know why our newest generations, now yet to become adults, are even more fixated upon becoming famous than I ever was of appearing on Soul Train.  (Soul Train?  Me and my buddies watched Soul Train religiously, every afternoon, when we were teens. Great show!)

Somedays, as I say, I worry my daydreams of fame might become troublesome for me or others....(like this guy worries, too, I guess):

image.png.a1a603240d790e9edbb3ae0f8aca5f66.png

And, Billy Graham, who was so famous, and whose son I attended school with, probably would tell us that it is wrong to wish to be famous:

image.png.b775abe6285d1a1fbae61a3f441778f9.png

And, here is BETTY who is having problems with her FAME-Fantasy:

image.png.6a44807f4142bcf593b0f648463f96e0.png

But for a more SCIENTIFIC Analysis, then you would want to read articles like this one.  And, I am sure that I am NO Narcissist, Believe Me!:

image.png.483d5f948d597a1531ab49e09d0cafb9.png

So I ask you:

How much would you give to be famous.

And, if you were famous, or if you were a famous author, or a famous footballer, or a famous politician,...

How would your fame change your life, and...

What would you do with your fame, besides improving our world?

Would you have no one but girls around you, 24/7?

I know that I would.

I would drive a Bentley, with girls sitting to the left and to the right of me.

And, the driver would be a girl.

And all the girls would be Thai.

I would not wish to become a famous author.

And, if I were a famous author, then I would not really be famous.

I would use a pseudonym.

And, I would write under the pen name: Oliver Twist, being, in real life, rather twisted.

How do you deal with your fantasies?

Is there any hope for you, do you think?

Regards,

Gamma

Note to Self: Becoming Famous, later in life, will not be so easy as it might have been when one was young.

I reckon you should give it a go GG

Why not take a dump on soi nana and clean up in a local fountain - that should do it - at least for 15 mins anyway

It's been done, and so doing it again, a second time, would not be worthy of Fame, but only...

Cringeworthy.

To be fair many, if not most famous people are pretty cringeworthy - seems to be part of the deal.

But if you wanna be famous at an advanced age those type of antics in a landmark spot are probably your best bet.

Good Luck!

Being famous is over rated imho - esp 'Hollywood famous'

Think Weinstrin's casting couch or what Leo DiCap allegedly had to go through to 'make it'.

Music biz is just as bad, allegedly

If I was to be famous for something, I don't think it would be for something good, unfortunately :coffee1:

Why I could never talk to a shrink ... they'd commit my A$$ and throw away the key :cheesy:

I am really getting into this vid.

This may be my all-time fav, this year.

I just want to know how to find it on YouTube, or ...

Who IS this woman?

And, is she Famous?

Or, is she a REAL Student?

I have so many questions about this thing.

Yeah, it's like a slut version of a parrot. 😅

Anyway, her social media handle is willoriewisp (2.5m followers on tiktok) and she allegedly has tourette with sometimes conveniently a cute/slut version of it. Good luck.

No. When you are famous your life is no longer your own, always in the public eye. I much prefer anonymity.

This... I don't seek attention or need it.

I'm not sure Soul Train & American Bandstand were for famous musicians. They seemed to be up and coming artists. Also, American Bandstand was for the whites, Soul Train was for blacks. Also, Casey Kasem with the Top 40.

Soul Train is DEFINITELY a WHITES Show.

Just get stoned in the afternoons, and watch, and then you will understand.

I and my buddies just LOVED Soul Train, back in the day....

Please refer to the following:

a.  Get Down, Get Down

bb. Keep on Keepin't On

Soul Train had us rolling in the aisles, at the time.

Now, I realize that the music was great.

It was only the dancing on the dancefloor, and what they were wearing at the time, that seemed a little ODD then.

c. Could you have been a Soul Train dancer?

They were so infamous that they finally became famous....

I think they intentionally starting putting some blacks in the american bandstand dancing crowd as a racial equality gesture as time wore on. You would always see a token black or white person in a crowd of another color 🤣.

Been kind of semi famous, a few docs and a movie, as well known in sports.

Now older and forgotten, just a few lines in lexica left. Still got some google searches, but they also fades away.

Im happy, good memories but all in the past, now it is all about now and future.

It feels good to do not chase any bucket list anymore, and just enjoy the moment as it comes

From this Famous Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, it is possible to see that...

a.  Not only is the recent generation FAR more interested in achieving FAME, but....

b.  Breast size has been increasing, too, since the 1970s.

c.  I just wonder if, some day, breast size will finally get...

      Out of hand.......

Cool World....

I never wanted to be famous. Not when I was young, not when I was a little older, and not now, even older.

Looking at all those famous people and what others think they should do or not do or think or whatever, I am happy not to be famous.

Fame is transitory, fleeting even; speaking as someone who had 5 seconds of exposure on the BBC nightly news, peering round a corner in West Belfast and then sprinting across the road!

The fame didn't last, although when I rang home that week my mum said she and all the neighbours had seen me on the telly!
