Trump Wins on Injunctions
Trump adversaries see silver linings in his ‘monumental’ Supreme Court win Class actions and other legal strategies may allow Trump’s opponents to keep pursuing broad blocks against at least some of his policies. 06/27/2025 But Barrett’s 26-page opinion leaves a surprising degree of wiggle room. Yes, conventional nationwide injunctions are off the table, but Trump’s opponents say they see alternative routes to obtain effectively the same sweeping blocks of at least some policies that run afoul of the law and the Constitution. The court appeared to leave open three specific alternatives: Restyle the legal challenges as class-action lawsuits; rely on state-led lawsuits to obtain broad judicial rulings; or challenge certain policies under a federal administrative law that authorizes courts to strike down the actions of executive branch agencies. The viability of these three potential alternatives is not yet clear. But the court explicitly declined to rule them out. That led Justice Samuel Alito — who joined the majority opinion — to write a concurrence to raise concerns that the court was leaving loopholes that could undercut its main holding. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/27/trump-supreme-court-birthright-injunction-loopholes-00430225 -

Crime Fifteen Insurgents Attack Security Post in Narathiwat: Two Officers Injured in Dawn Clash
Picture courtesy of Amarin. A group of around 15 insurgents launched a violent pre-dawn assault on a security outpost in Sukhirin District, Narathiwat Province, on the morning of 28 June, injuring two officers in a gun battle that lasted approximately 15 minutes. The incident occurred at approximately 05:50, at the Geer Subdistrict Protection Unit (Chor Khor Tor Geer). According to official reports, the attackers threw pipe bombs and opened fire on the compound in a coordinated attempt to overrun the base. Security personnel stationed at the post immediately returned fire and took defensive positions in accordance with emergency protocols. The intense firefight forced the insurgents to retreat into the surrounding terrain. Following the clash, two officers were confirmed injured. Sergeant Major First Class Apisit Srianurak sustained a gunshot wound to the back, while Volunteer Defence Officer Waehamram Waesamae was shot in the head. Both were promptly transported to Sukhirin Hospital for medical treatment. A subsequent sweep of the area revealed an unexploded pipe bomb, which was secured pending further investigation by explosive ordnance disposal teams. The motive for the attack is believed to be part of ongoing insurgent activities in the deep south, where violent incidents targeting state officials and infrastructure continue to flare sporadically. Authorities are currently pursuing leads to track down the perpetrators and are coordinating with intelligence units to prevent further incidents. The security alert level in the region has been heightened as a precaution. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-06-29
