Suphan Buri province's Mae Buay Salay restaurant, famed for its choice river prawns, is set to host the prime minister and Cabinet members. With a rich history exceeding 80 years, this culinary gem is diligently priming for this esteemed visit.

Situated in the Bang Pla Ma district, Mae Buay Salay is a gastronomic institution that has upheld its traditional authenticity since 1942. Now under the stewardship of Napaporn Suntharatham, the restaurant continues to enthrall the taste buds of locals and tourists alike.

Napaporn inherited the prestigious establishment from her ancestors, with the restaurant's roots tracing back to her grandmother's sales – a popular local dessert – sold at remembrance ceremonies. This homemade dessert swiftly gained fame, leading to the district office's suggestion of augmenting it into a full restaurant serving more local delicacies. Heeding this advice, Mae Buay Salay was shaped, gradually growing into a beloved eatery thriving in conventional Thai sweets, contemporary café services, and a robust restaurant menu.

Their seafood specialities, including their notably large river prawns each at about 90 grams, are a massive hit. They serve these in an array of styles – grilled, salt-fried, or stir-fried with cabbage. Other culinary head-turners include crispy noodles, small soft-fleshed fish, fish ball curry, spicy fish stir-fry, and steamed fish with dipping sauce. Daily procured fresh ingredients help this institute ensure the superior quality of its dishes.

On learning about the prime minister's forthcoming visit, Napaporn and her team felt both thrilled and honoured. "It's heartwarming to know the prime minister would consider visiting our humble establishment. We look forward to welcoming him and his Cabinet members wholeheartedly," she beamed.

Preparations for the esteemed visit are underway at the restaurant, maintaining particular focus on the dining experience and a carefully chosen menu, as reported by KhaoSod. The Thai PM and Cabinet members can expect to savour some of the establishment's most acclaimed dishes, such as salt-fried, grilled, and stir-fried prawns with cabbage and spicy horse mackerel soup. The team at Mae Buay Salay hopes to provide their distinguished guests with a truly memorable gastronomic affair.

Accompanied with 10-year old rice?

Thought not.

Are these the famous migratory prawns which, like salmon, are born in a river but swim out to sea returning only to spawn?😀

It's inspiring to see a family-owned establishment like theirs receive such recognition. On a personal note, I recently had the pleasure of discovering a hidden culinary gem - the Korean restaurant Auckland. It's a charming restaurant that stole my taste buds away. The flavors were an explosion of delight, and the cozy atmosphere made it feel like a home away from home.
