Why is he reported as an israeli? What difference does his nationality make?

The nationality of people is usually reported in articles in the news in Thailand.  It also doesn't really matter that it was a motorbike taxi, or that it was 6pm but it's included.  It's just a norm here.  What's the problem with it?  I guess nowadays it's perhaps a bit embarrassing to be from Israel, but the reporter is probably not intending it any particular way.

Yes of  course it's normal to report nationality.

To omit it would be lazy.

The poster you replied to was just cynically trying to hijack this topic to be about his personal obsession with demonizing Israel. It was not a sincere question at all!

As far as taking a moto taxi for such an excursion I never would but I don't even use them for short trips.

But many people do hire them for longer rides. Its not exactly rare.

Ih any case we don't know what happened but stealing a phone is a criminal act.

I suppose kicking a passenger out before he wants the trip to stop isn't illegal per se but pretty damn <deleted>ty.

Why is that ?

Why should an 81 year old tourist be embarrassed about being from Israel ?

Would you say that if he was from Russia, or China ?

A can of worms question about China and especially Russia but I don't think Israelis have anything to be embarrassed about.

They were invaded by barbaric terrorists intending to kill all Jews and like any other country that had the capability, they responded.

This particular presumed crime victim Israeli in the news is just a random person and we don't know anything about his particular political views.

BTW, Israel just marked it's Independence Day.

3000 years old.

76 years young.

Go on, blame the old guy, coming up with all sorts of silly scenarios as where the old guy was at fault, wait until

you get to his age and someone treat you like that Mr. Crikey...

Exactly that!! Always some ðìcƙhèað out to blame the old guy but wait until your 81 if you can manage to keep your trap shut!
