I don't lie, at least not on forums heh. I didnt pay attention when he dismounted the bike so not sure how her was sitting to accomodate the sword. Ya he seemed stunned with his head tilted to the side all <deleted> up like, but he recovered fast enough to start rounding up a posse within 3 minutes. Wish I got the Mr. Leather Joke.

Taxexile, I dont think that's fair considering I posted stories glorifying OTHER people... don't know why that makes me self obsessed.

Doesn't matter because I've been told to stop posting them so this is the last one. I don't understand why people are getting so upset though.....

Damian

I'd like to think I'm NOT going out on a limb here.

I like DM's stories. Eevrytime I see one,the thought does cross my mind about the fact that frankly it should be in a blog, bet the truth is, he get's more readership by posting them here

. Perhaps DM has now got enough interest that he can continue posting in his blog space on thaivisa/

As far as dscrepencies are concerned (swords etc...) I'm a writer, and when I post a piece it is generally as honest as my memory permits. But I can not preclude using artstic licence from time to time.

DM, perhaps, now you've mad a name for yourself on here, you'd be happier about posting them on your blog. If you look to the top of this page, you'll see a cariety of links in the top graphic bar, including "my blog"

I'd like to continue reading about your exploits.

you comes across like the desparate guest promoting himself and his oh so exciting on location exploits whilst on a 3am chat show buried deeply somewhere on an american cable channel .

oh no , not another formulaic kick boxing borefest , with you as the sidekick to shiny toothed , cinnamon tanned , mel gibson lookalike and hardman , Dagbert Grits , who once had a walk on as sidekick to Richard Chamberlains sidekick in "whatever it was called strikes back again ,part two."

you could win an oscar for namedropping alone.

and of course posts like yours are the perfect fodder for attacks by mealy mouthed cynics like myself.

i'm sure you had a lot of fun , and that you are a decent bloke , but i think your post belongs elsewhere , perhaps on "kickboxing extras adventures blog" , see gooooooogle page 984.

p.s. have you seen the bbc tv comedy series "extras" , with ricky gervais , if not i can recommend it.

I like the story. It seems harmless enough, regardless of whether it’s 100% true or slightly embellished. It isn’t a fantastic story but it’s entertaining and perfectly feasible. I have no idea why so many people see fit to pull it and the poster to pieces. I mean if the guy spends the time to record his episodes and occurrences then why not? If he decides to share them with TV members then good for him.

Keep the stories coming I say.

The weapons in question

Thanks guys!

I'm still struggling to understand all the heat I'm getting, both on the thread and with the admin themselves... do they think I'm lying, what would be the point? Or am I blindly being insulting and too stupid to see the insult? Or that I'm just bragging like Taxexile thinks? I seem to be angering people and I honestly don't understand why. Actually, I'm just down right shocked at alot of posters attitudes, I've never experienced this amount of negativity on a forum, not just to myself but to others too. What's up with all that? And why are words like he11 and damm censored? Kinda odd to say the least...... especially with so much rampant negativity it seems silly to censor words that haven't been considered foul language for the past 50 years. There's alot of CRAP threads and I thought a few of my favorite Thailand stories would add well to the mix and entertain some folks.... dang.

Sorry for offending you man, I wrote this back when I didnt know much about the South (exactly 2 years ago) except that it was dangerous, I kept the story in its entirety and didn't edit it. I'll try harder not to offend you any further. Please forgive me.

Actually I was being sarcastic by overdoing my apology. I sure didn't want to upset anyone but felt he was overdoing his personal anger at my "new to the country" mistake. Why the heck is he so personally offended? I haven't a clue, I'm starting to think there is a whole undercurrent of forum culture specific to this forum that I am not aware of.

He's right, Damian, although I understand how things on even only a forum can be unfair and unjust. I think Tax was just taking the piss, and admitted that you're a decent bloke, something with which I totally agree. Post your entertaining stories in a blog.

And take it from me, some of the most well-known and memorable posters on this forum usually go through a trial-by-fire. Rise above it and take it in stride.

DamianMavis, he wasn't personally offended, he was merely trying to point out a geographical error in either a funny or slightly rude way. I can't tell his tone merely from written words. Don't take it too personal, most people here are just being sarcastic anyway, but it's hard to tell as you can't tell what tone they're using.

As for the censoring, it's probably just the forum software running, so it possibly can't be changed word for word.

So, DamianMavis, do you know what happened to those guys in the end? Did the police catch them and did they go to jail for a while?

I'd like to think they were punished for hurting the town image and upsetting the entire movie production and in the long run hurting the towns income through tourism. But now I doubt it..... I never found out the end result. They WERE fined like 200 baht for possession of the weapons, that much I know heh.

I enjoyed the story DM you could have gone for the over kill but it seems you told it as it was, looking forward to the next episode of your life, but please be careful out there. (from Hill street blues) :o

Any one remember the scene from Indiana Jones ?

From my experience in Surat these two tough martial artist hard nut tough boys. are lucky not to be full of lead.

could of read Man with really bad hair cut and his mate try to chop a .45 in half and fail miserably.

All over 100bht to. :o

My own martial arts training, taught me above all else its for defense only and the best move is to run away. (3rd Dan over 15 yrs ago) and still training.

Really? I mentioned Surat was dangerous and the very first reply inferred I was stupid and was really angry. If we had seen a .45 I doubt Don would have jump kicked him in the head but who knows! I don't have really bad hair... maybe I should change my avatar heh. People keep thinking I run around Thailand as CATBOY! Reow!

Gun, Knife ,fists or a simple toothpick,My point is a true skilled practitioner of the ancient arts will always walk away if at all possible.

I think that Damian is like 70's icon "Kwai Chang Kane" in the legendary "Kung <deleted>" series starring David Carradine; in that he just quietly travels around the country in his unassuming manner, and gets into all sorts of bother from just being a peaceful soul without any agenda whatsoever..... But never fails to give some b@stard a severe kung <deleted> kicking (after severe provocation, mind...) :D

The slow bits and all the flute-playing; flaky philosophy about "one hand clapping" and somesuch <deleted> were always worth the wait, just to see him kick the living <deleted> out of some hick-town cowboys in the end. :o

More please...

Stiggy, read my other posts where I talk about how many times I've walked away and kept smiling as self defence in Thailand. In this situation you really think we could have walked away with a sword wielding attacker? If you believe so then you're a little naive, this was a mugging, not a "talk down a drunk surly looking for a fight guy" situation. The only thing we might have done differently is paid him the money, which I as willing to do considering I wasn't sure about Thai culture, but like I said I waited to follow Dons lead since he's lived here so long. Did you even read the thread? Or the original post? Your comments smack of skimming to the end.

Kmart, I didn't even get to do anything! haha.
