Deputy Interior Minister Chada Thaised led officials of the Provincial Administration Department in a raid on an illegal pub in Pattaya early this morning.

 

219 customers tested positive for drugs.

 

The raid, in Soi Kor Pai Pattaya in Bang Lamung district, was in response to complaints from neighbours about loud noises, staying open beyond permissible hours and widespread drug abuse among young customers.

 

About 300 customers, mostly young adults and youths, were found in the pub when it was raided.  The officials ordered the pub manager to switch on the lights and cease all the entertainment activity.

 

The customers were separated into males and females, as officials checked their ID cards and took urine samples.

I take it the customers were mainly Thais then?

I'm very "surprised" I never read about the raids on clubs meant for foreigners having failed drug test, it seems to be a bigger issue w young Thai edm clubs, who always sell happy water

Drugs seem to be the go to thing for the youth of Thailand... give it another 10-20 years and Thailand will be completely sunk.

Amusing the way the career politicians here lead raids into dens of iniquity.

Certainly they vet all these places before the hero arrives, wouldn't do for them to walk in, someone panics and starts blasting.

i'm not sure that they test for cannabis, it may be only for methamphetamine (Ya Bah) It would depend on what test kit they use

is it any wonder that people need some respite from the messed up world we live in   How many turn to alcohol is rarely mentioned but the reasons and the consequences are pretty much the same

Farangs are never tested.

 

Farangs are always let out first and only remaining Thais get tested. Don't ask me why.

 

Also when they have a raid on a highway, stopping all the cars and testing all the drivers, farangs are also for some reason only ones continuing without testing.

Right on...  zoning out  is the answer to the messed up world... whether it be alcohol... cannabis... or hard drugs... it's happening more now than in any time in history.

When being tested for drugs the last thing one wants is a "false positive"       A negative result is what one wants !      

That raid in Pattaya was intense! It’s crazy how quickly things can escalate in places like that. A while back, some friends and I ended up at a spot that seemed fun until the cops showed up, and we all had to show IDs. Just a bunch of nervous laughter and everyone trying to play it cool.

I can’t help but think about how some people are always trying to find shortcuts, like looking up smoke shops that sell synthetic urine near me - https://ccwrc.org/smoke-shops-that-sell-synthetic-urine-near-me/ . I found some useful tips online that helped clarify things if anyone ever needs it. Just goes to show that if people put as much effort into finding safe hangouts as they do dodging tests, they’d probably have a lot more fun! It’s all about making smarter choices, right?

Not true that farangs are not tested. There was a checkpoint on the highway south of Phetchaburi towards Hua Hin in 2020. They were stopping a huge number of drivers (both directions). I know this, because it was the one, and only time I've ever been tested. A clean living farang driving my GF in her Prachuap registered car. They only tested me and not her. Pulled over, questioned, directed to the sala to collect the piss cup. Sent to the screened urinals and then back to the sala where the pee was dripped into the test kits. Exact location here.
