USA Obama Warns U.S. Teeters on Edge of Autocracy While Urging Hope and Civic Unity
By which judges though. It's absolutely clear to all that lawfare was used against Trump and now he's in office it's activist district court judges making rulings. Surely in a democratic system where there is the right to appeal. How many of the appeals have been successful? Doesn't say much for the original rulings by leftists activist judges. -

Politics Democrat Party Elects to Remain in Coalition After Intense Deliberation
File photo for reference only In a significant political development, the Democrat Party has chosen to remain in Thailand's government coalition following a detailed three-hour meeting on Thursday. This critical decision came amidst a turbulent political climate sparked by a leaked audio conversation between Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen, which mentioned the Thai 2nd Army Region's commander. Party leader Chalermchai Sri-on, also the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, led the discussions with the party's executive committee. The primary focus was to decide the party's stance on staying within the coalition or withdrawing amid mounting public scrutiny. Before the meeting commenced, Chalermchai addressed media reports that suggested the Democrat Party had been offered additional ministerial positions. He categorically denied these claims, emphasising that the party had not engaged in negotiations over new roles and that he had no insight into other parties' discussions or decisions. Chalermchai further clarified that the Democrat Party prides itself on its independence, and any strategy would be determined solely by the executive committee. He described the party's internal structure as robust, with the executive committee firmly in charge of its operations. As public calls grew for the party to reconsider its coalition status, Chalermchai acknowledged the diverse opinions flooding in. Some voices urged a withdrawal for ethical reasons, while others supported remaining for stability. He expressed commitment to weighing all these views carefully in the party's deliberations. After a thorough discussion, party spokeswoman Jenjira Rattanaphian announced that a unanimous decision had been reached to maintain their position within the coalition. She emphasised that the meeting was solely to assess the political situation and categorically ruled out any talks regarding ministerial positions. Jenjira disclosed that while there were various opinions during the meeting, the party emerged unified, with a consensus achieved through open dialogue. She underscored that the committee valued all viewpoints, given the issue's sensitivity and national impact. Reaffirming the party's core mission, Jenjira assured that the Democrat Party remains dedicated to prioritising the welfare of the Thai people. She stressed that any future decisions would be rooted in serving the public's best interests, ensuring the party's actions align with these values. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Nation 2025-06-20 -

Analysis Thailand in Trouble: Expats Exit as Vietnam Steals the Show
Yes. I go back a minimum of twice per year and virtually every one of my staples has gone up 10 to 15% every 6 months. All of my family is back there and I have dozens of friends and they all report the same thing, inflation has not slowed down, and prices continue to soar to the point where it is an out of control economy. It is totally unsustainable. It will implode and it is going to be very, very ugly when it does. I'm not going to give you citations because it's a useless task arguing with you. I'm just telling you my experience on the ground. 20% minimum.
