Don't mean to patronize you but sounds like you are unaware.

There are extensive restrictions on foreigners working in Thailand.

You must be able to do a job that a Thai person cannot do or you are considered to be taking a job from a Thai.

Do you have unique specialized job skills?

Otherwise you could start a business that employs Thai people.

Are doctors exempt?

Depends on what employment you are looking for but there is plenty in the industrial estates near Pattaya,  Laem Chabang and Rayong.

Best to contact recruiters for those.

All the job listings I see are for other places in Thailand. How do people find jobs around Pattaya?

They open a bar!

There are none.  Legitimate that is unless teaching English at about 35k baht a month.  Barely livable.

Earn your money in the West.  Spend in Thailand.

Teaching was big in Thailand for farangs back in  the 90's and early 2000's

Nowadays you rarely hear of it on the forums

I know there's a lot of age discrimination though ,most advertise no.older than 50

Yep.  Never understood the concept of abandoning a job or career in the West to come to Thailand to teach English for 35k baht a month.

Legitimate with work permit or some boiler room selling “investments”, time shares etc.

They appear to get raided every month or two for some reason.

BOI workpermit and extension of stay from EEC office in Chonburi.

We employ many Thais that grew up in Sweden and can talk perfect Swedish, 50.000+ baht for Thai and Swedes

I suppose that could be beneficial for some.

Next level up from school teacher.

Glad I had the sense not to reside in Thailand long stay until having the funds first.

I get it. Some people are “I want it now”.

What exactly are they selling ?  Telemarketers are not popular in America.  I hang up on every one of them when I even go through the motion of answering.

So you used to be a telemarketer?  Figures.

Couldn’t keep a real job for more than a month?

What were you trying to sell/scam?  Timeshares in the Midlands?

How many times were you hung up on?  99%.

Me, telesales, hmmm, wrong again..........🤕

I am beginning to worry about you, can't you spend a bit more time out of your flat, join a Derby & Joan club, oh, you've already done that, I forgot about your Bingo outings, sorry...🤗

That's not accurate.  There is a list of jobs that foreigners are not allowed to do.  But foreigners can do jobs that Thai people can do, as long as the job is not on the restricted list.

The foreigner needs to have a work permit, which requires their employer to pay 4 Thai people for every foreigner on staff, and pay income tax on 30,000, 50,000 or 80,000 a month to keep the WP renewed, depending on what category the work falls under.  (there may be other categories that require paying income tax on lower or higher amounts.  Agriculture, for example).

If a foreigner couldn't take a job that a Thai could do, there would be no Lao farmworkers, Cambodian hotel maids, or Burmese fishermen.  Or any permutations...

For most of us from the nanny states, the biggest hurdle is competing with Thai employees who generally work a lot cheaper than we're accustomed to.  Unless we have a special skill.
