first I have to mention that this is a wonderful forum. I have some questions regarding the Thai Elite program - I am doing some cost analysis. I have moved to Bangkok with my family. I am currently on an business visa with a work permit. This VISA costs me around 10K USD per year - running the company that supports me, minimum tax payouts and keeping it in good standing. A Thai Elite card would cost me 27k USD and it will give me a VISA for life - no question asked. Thai elite cards are also resalable - meaning that a card member can pass his rights to another person. If I can sell this card to another person in a significant discount when I am planning to leave Bangkok in 2 years time - then this option will even cost me less money. get some of the investment back..I have been investigation the "Second Hand" market for the Thai elite card because a. I would like to buy a second hand card for a discount and b. I would like to learn what are the chances I could sell my elite card if I had it... but very mysteriously - I can not find nothing regarding this subject as if to say no elite member wants to resell the card... also I have been reading some criticism regarding this program so: I would appreciate if somebody can help me regarding the following questions:a. If there is a second hand market to Thai elite cards?b. What are the chances you think I will be able to sell my membership for a 40-60% discount. c. Would you go for the elite card as a VISA solution? Bizfreak

I would only say there are FAR cheaper ways to ensure long stay for under 10k USD per year if your not looking to work.. And if you are intending to work you would have to pay those costs anyway so its not really a VISA cost only.

can you please suggest me a better strategy on what are the cheaper ways gaining a 2 years Visa with multiple entry? and why it turned out to be that the Thai elite program is a hot button when ever I read about it? (i am a married guy with a 2 year old child)

The elite card is always a hot button topic..

I would only say there are FAR cheaper ways to ensure long stay for under 10k USD per year if your not looking to work.. And if you are intending to work you would have to pay those costs anyway so its not really a VISA cost only.

I see that you have a work permit. You may want to check but last I knew work permits were not allowed on the Elite Visa.

Dont listen to all the gloom and doom naysayers. Be advised however, that things change constantly in Thailand with little regard for the consumer, particularly if a farang. The program has lost monstrous amounts of money since its inception and if money gets tight it could easily be canceled with no recourse or reimbursement.

Sooooo, living by the first rule of Thailand, if you can smoke $27,000 before brunch and not notice the gap in your wallet, it seems to be a great deal. You should be able to get at least another year or two out of it. Even if they cancel the program, they might leave the visa intact for the indefinite future. Hard to tell here, only thing I can tell you for sure is that things change, and things that lose big money change in negative ways.

If you accidentally left $27000 in a taxi and it ruins your day, I would advise against buying one. Its up to your needs and circumstances.

Just to advise I've received an e-mail from Thai Elite suggesting I buy now at the old rate 1m Baht as from October 1st they think it will be 1.5m Baht (tbc) with revised privileges;

1. One time membership transferable ( before unilimted)

2 free golf 24 times a year ( before every day)

3. free spa 24 times per year ( before everyday)

All other privilages the same

You are resurrecting a thread of of 7 years ago. You will not receive the answer you desire.

Never understood why this semi-dodgy Elite card option is deemed more attractive for a wealty person than putting 10MTHB in a Thai bank, which is sufficient for a 12 month extension of stay based on investment in Thailand. Just need to renew once a year. Yes there is a risk of an eventual loss on the FX but you'll likely not lose more than the cost of the Elite card, and there is even a chance of a gain (!)...

Why is nobody mentioning the Thailand Elite Easy Access Card to him. There is a thread about it here in TV.

Just Google it, what I understand about it its 500K THB which will give you a 5 year stay
