Legal requirement to notify change of address to Department of Land Transport?

Recommended Posts

Good evening,

I have heard it claimed that failure to notify the DLT of a change of address can invalidate one's driving licence and insurances, both compulsory and private.

I don't thing this is true, but the person making that claim is categorical and I thought I would check.

Thank you.

I have been here many years and have not heard of this requirement.

I have had many renewals and almost always from a different address, no one at the DLT ever mentioned anything.

Thanks. I started a reddit thread on it and several people confirmed it is not required, with specific examples of DLT staff even refusing to do it and telling them to change it when renewal time comes.
