Modem Config Settings For True?

Featured Replies

To anyone using True ADSL service... what config settings should be used for parameters like VPI, VCI, Encapsulation? Any other important ones need configuring?

Cheers

I never had to mess with any of those!

With Zyxel modem I just plugged it on and installed the modems software and it worked first time.

If I were to try to tweak those settings you mention could I get a speed increas?

I assume different hardware have different default values. For my D-Link 500G, they may need to be changed and the guys at True who I spoke to were no help at all. They said "just use PPPoE". Maybe they are right, but I thought there were a few more things to check than that.

PPPoE LLC

VPI/VCI 0/100

The modem may be factory configured (if you bought it from True), so sometimes no settings are needed.

Cool, thanks Firefoxx, my VCI is set to 35 by default so that helps a lot. They called me yesterday giving my pw/user saying that it had been active since yesterday. When I got home it didn't work...called them... "oh user/password is active but signal not yet active.... tommorow". :o

35 is what I've seen most US ISPs use. I think TOT lines use it too.

Usually there is a status light on the modem to show you whether an ADSL signal is present.
