I'd like to stay for week or 2 near Lumphini Park on late October to see if I like it. Apartment or long stay hotel OK.

Any recommendations?

 

The Malaysia Hotel is a short walk from Lumpini Park (about 5 minutes or so) and rates are around, or just a bit over 1,000 baht. An old, but still perfectly pleasant property and good value. In that immediate neighbourhood are some other hotels and guesthouses with even lower rates. I've walked past the Pinnacle Hotel many times which is an even shorter walk to Lumpini Park and a quick check online shows rooms there are less than 1,000 baht per night.

Pinnacle is very nice for $ 32-night w great breakfast if pre-paid 30 days in advance.

I'm surprised prices as low as in Jomtien. BKK airport area is much more for run down places.

Last time I stayed in downtown Bangkok was 1975... $5/nite w hot water or $4 without. Took w cold 🙂
