Pattaya Street Food Seller Attacks City Official After Traffic-Related Dispute - video

A street food vendor in Pattaya, Thailand, assaulted a city official after he was asked not to cause traffic obstructions with his vehicle.

 

On July 28, 2024, Pattaya city official, Mr. Udon Woranam, reported to local police that he had been attacked by a food vendor while working. The incident took place on the evening of July 27, 2024, near Jomtien Beach, in the vicinity of Dongtan Curve, just a short distance from a local police station.

 

Mr. Udon was on duty, driving patrol vehicle 302 and keeping an eye on street sellers at Jomtien Beach, when he came across a man selling grilled squid from a motorcycle sidecar. Mr. Udon noticed that the vendor's sidecar was blocking the traffic, and so he kindly asked him to move it. Even so, the seller spontaneously became furious, began yelling, insulting Mr. Udon, and then physically attacked him, leaving him with slight facial injuries.

 

 

After the assault, Mr. Udon sought medical attention at Banglamung Hospital and reported the incident, providing video evidence, to the Dongtan substation of Pattaya Police Station in order to take legal action against the attacker. The Pattaya Police are currently searching for the suspect.

 

The entire incident was captured on camera, reported by The Pattaya News.

What causes traffic chaos in Soi Buakhao?

Bumper to bumper creeping empty Baht buses and food cart vendors "parking" or pushing their carts on narrow roads.

On one side I understand that everyone is fighting to make a Baht but this is simply too much and out of order.

This is what Thailand has become, people are so desperate to earn an income, they result to violence, when confronted, it's a simmering pot, just turn up the heat and it boils over. It's hopeless depending on the Government to sort this mess out.

Heaven knows, got stuck in it yesterday.... no longer a days holiday, low season etc etc, yet still all choked up at hellfire junction and back from there. One way on Diana seemed not to be helping. Does get busy at lunch times and delivery trucks parking up are some reasons.
