A female gambler from Thailand is accusing the police and a card dealer of cheating her out of 800,000 baht. This is following a gambling raid in the Lat Krabang district of Bangkok. The gambler, identified as May, has enlisted the services of a renowned lawyer, Ratchapon Sirisakhon, to help with her quest for justice. May unveiled the alleged scam during a press conference alongside her attorney on July 29.

May narrated how she met a woman at various gambling spots in Bangkok. This woman, in her fifties, invited May and her friends to participate in card games at her high-end residence in the Lat Krabang district, which they did. This woman remained the dealer throughout their gambling sessions at her house, which happened about four times before an incident of police raid on June 10.

More than 30 cops stormed the premises amidst a gambling game. May and her six friends were hauled to the Lat Krabang Police Station thereafter. She stated the police claimed the card dealer's daughter had lodged a complaint accusing them of swindling the dealer of 10 million baht.

According to May, she and her friends were coerced into repaying the card dealer by police who demanded their bank details on paper. Their savings totaling 2 million baht, were subsequently wired to the dealer's account, with May losing 800,000 baht from hers.

While every one of them was booked for illicit gambling, the card dealer was not charged. Fellow gamblers concurred with May's belief that the dealer's loss was around 800,000 baht—a far cry from the claimed 10 million baht. Moreover, they claim they never cheated the dealer.

May's group felt victimized, suspecting a collusion between the police and the dealer, given one officer's familial ties with the dealer.

A police spokesperson refuted May's accusations, alleging her arrest, and those of her friends was facilitated by the dealer and her daughter who acted as informants. The police identified the dealer and her daughter as victims, having lodged a fraud complaint against the gamblers earlier.

As per the police, the arrested group was involved in a plot to cheat others through their gambling activities. They found a hidden camera in one of the gambler's hat, evidence pointing towards their intention to cheat during gambling. Their strategy entailed defrauding their victims of money they'd later split amongst themselves.
