Registration for the digital wallet scheme surged to 5.8 million people within just three hours.

Officials expected the number to hit 7 million by noon today, following the government’s launch of a scheme allowing citizens to claim 10,000 baht via a digital wallet through the Tang Rat application on smartphones. This initiative, open from today, August 1 to September 15, places no limits on the number of participants.

The digital wallet scheme has captivated public interest, with overwhelming registration activity reported. This morning, Deputy Minister of Finance Phai Phum Rojanasakul provided an update on the registration progress. By 11am, three hours after the registration opened, 5.38 million people had already registered. It was highly expected that the number would reach 7 million by noon.

For those experiencing difficulties registering, the issue often stems from residual data from an older version of the Tang Rat app. The solution is to delete and reinstall the app, then press the green button to register for the project. This problem is not due to a crash but because some users still have old data lingering in the app.

Currently, the app is handling an influx of about 900,000 users every five minutes. Related news updates include guidance on how to claim the digital wallet benefits, with specific instructions for troubleshooting registration issues. For instance, users are advised to reinstall the Tang Rat app if they encounter problems.

Further updates reveal that registration can be completed through various steps. Citizens are urged to follow the latest guidance to ensure eligibility for the 10,000 baht digital wallet. The results of the registration will be confirmed on September 22.

Meanwhile, the government has also provided walk-in registration points for those who may not have access to smartphones or are facing technical challenges. This ensures that everyone has an opportunity to claim their digital wallet benefits.

The digital wallet scheme has been designed to provide financial relief and boost economic activity. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to integrate digital solutions into everyday financial transactions, aiming to make them more accessible and secure for the general population.

Phai Phum emphasised the importance of resolving technical issues promptly to facilitate smooth registration for all participants. He reassured the public that the technical team is actively working to address any glitches and ensure the app’s functionality remains stable amid high user traffic, reported KhaoSod.

5.8 million more people waiting to be scammed.

Why would they be scammed ??...

Thailand had Rao tiew duay kan, we had plenty of cheaper holidays with that.

There were plenty of people who recevied their 5000 baht payouts (15k in total I believe).

How could putting money in a digital wallet for them to use on food purchases 'scam' people ?
