Bangkok Proposes 20-Baht Fare Cap for Electric Railways

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Council is urging the Ministry of Transport to implement a 20-baht fare cap for all electric railway systems within the next year to encourage the use of public transport and lower air pollution levels.

Surat Thani (NNT) - Surat Thani Governor Jessada Jitrat has mandated legal action against a tour company that led a group into the closed Nam Talu Cave within Khao Sok National Park, resulting in a tragic flash flood that killed a 37-year-old guide. The incident, which involved two guides and 22 foreign tourists, unfolded as they were exiting the cave, which is situated in the Ratchaprapa Dam reservoir area.

Government Okays 433M Baht for Tourism Promotion

The government has given the green light for a 433 million baht fund for the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. This money will be used to promote tourism during the off-peak months through digital campaigns and events. This initiative is being led by the Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT) which hopes to raise revenues from homegrown tourism by 20% to 1.2 trillion baht this year. This move is aimed at making Thailand less reliant on international tourists.
