Labour's Britain: A Landscape of Bluster and Inaction
This one is the original Guardian article about it: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jun/05/tory-winter-fuel-allowance-cuts-puts-4000-lives-at-risk-claims-labour They had the comments open so you can see what your comrades said about the Tories when they were contemplating implementing the exact same policy which is quite amusing. Keir Starmer knows it will kill 4000 people before their time and is going ahead with it. What kind of person does that? -

That's broadly correct. The UK Personal Allowance will be ignored and replaced by whatever allowance and deductions exist within the Thai system, these will vary from person to person based on age, marital status, etc etc. -

Learning Thai language with ADHD (help!)(
Go for one on one Thai classes. Ask the teacher to start you off with the alphabet(consanants and vowels) the way a child learns. Learning the mouth structure on the different pronunciations of the same "word" is the most stressful yet important part of Thai. I'm in the same boat with the ADHD. My wife is teaching our kids, and I'm trying to learn the reading and writing first for a solid foundation. I also have a solid grasp on the accent as I lived with my Thai inlaws out in the sticks of Udon Thani so I was surrounded by Passa Thai and Passa Isaan constantly. Take your time, don't feel shame, persistance is key. Sit down and watch a bunch of movies in Thai with English subtitles, preferably something you have seen repeatedly and enjoyed and don't even pay attention to the action on the screen. Just read the words and let the language flow over you and through you. Thai is not as hard to learn as so many claim it is, it's gatekeeping by those who think they're special because they paid big bucks to go to fancy schools . Here in America you can pick up English/Thai books for children. How can you learn if your cup is already full from the wrong tea eh? Most kids in Isaan grow up only speaking and listening to Passa Isaan then have to learn Central Thai when they start Government School. Be as a child my friend, it comes in time if you're taking the same approach as them😁 -

Sir Ian McKellen Questions Prince Harry's Aptitude and Criticizes the Late Queen
Well Starmer has always been a Republican so he probably enjoys this type of rubbish. Prison sentences in the UK are reserved for people posting about illegal immigration on FaceBook. Child Rapists and the like walk free due to lack of prison spaces. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13768989/child-rapist-spared-jail-prison-overcrowding.html -

Hope Thailand Intervenes to Halt Dog Sacrifice Ritual in Nan
Photo courtesy: Facebook page of The Hope Thailand Hope Thailand, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals, has intervened to stop a ritualistic dog sacrifice in the northern province of Nan. The disturbing tradition planned in Ban Huai Klaeb, Song Khwae district, was set for 3 PM on Sunday. However, thanks to timely action by Hope Thailand, the event was called off. The turn of events began when a concerned individual, identified only as Krit, uncovered the ritual plans via social media. Alarmed, Krit reached out to Hope Thailand, seeking assistance. The organisation swiftly fact-checked the report, confirming its authenticity. After validating the information, Hope Thailand’s official contacted the village headman, Sawat, urging him to halt the ritual, citing laws against animal cruelty. The official also involved the Livestock Development Office in Nan, arranging for a veterinarian to visit the village and reinforce the message. Responding promptly, the village headman convened a meeting with the village committee. They collectively agreed to “postpone” the ritual, marking a temporary victory for animal rights advocates. However, the situation has placed Krit’s family under significant pressure. The village committee demanded that Krit return from Lampang to explain his actions, causing concern for his and his parents' safety. Hope Thailand has sought help from Nan’s deputy governor, aiming to educate the villagers on the legal implications of such rituals. Hope Thailand’s officials are also planning a visit to Ban Huai Klaeb to discuss the issue further. The goal is to inform and educate the villagers about animal protection laws, fostering a community shift away from cruel practices. This intervention by Hope Thailand not only halted an immediate act of cruelty but also highlighted the importance of legal and moral action in protecting animals. The story underscores the critical role of community education and vigilance in preventing such practices in the future. -- 2024-09-10 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe -
