What advantages will one get from that assuming he lives in Pattaya using his savings or pension?

If you are asking that question ,  and already live here ............... then probably not any advantage for your situation. Many guys on this forum have no interest in speaking Thai.

Those that do speak fairly good Thai would (imo)  say that it is much more rewarding to them ....... in personal relationships and just ordinary life challenges .

note:  the best times i had , with non  bar girl types,   was finding pretty ladies on internet sites that did not speak english .

I had plenty of experience with women before coming here but I never met any before that were so....deceitful/devious if at all, as the Thai women, they plan things years in advance .

haha  i love seeing those women , with a 3rd grade education ,  leading the pompous westerner, college grad and wealthy............. down the street .

like leading the buffalo out to the field  😅

In the 17 years I have lived here and many times in Bangkok and Pattaya no girl has ever shouted handsome man to me, and the thing is, I really was handsome then. It is probably just the big bellied, unnattractive guys who get shouted handsome man at.

Natural progression :   Wide=eyed and looking lost :  "hansum man "..

                                                           two years later :

Looking like you know too much :  "kii nio " !

I wish I knew how different Health Insurance is vs. USA.

The Hospitals generally Require payment at discharge.

PC has 15 days to pay but can extend past month for certain issues.

My insurance Pre-existing conditions Not covered.

You may have to get the bill, all test results, and doctors diagnosis,

Then send all documents to Insurance.

A lot of items you buy have No Warranty and are Not easily returned.

Language, order and some words are common similar meaning words do not always translate effectively
