In a repeat of a previous crime, a lone gunman robbed a gold shop at a Thung Song mall for the second time, mimicking almost every detail of the initial attack. The suspect shot at the gold display cases, planted a fake bomb, and made off with a quantity of gold. Authorities believe it may be the same person who carried out the first robbery.

On the evening of August 24, reporters stated that the robbery occurred at the Yaowarat Gold Shop inside the Lotus Mall in Thung Song, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The assailant, a man dressed entirely in black, with his face obscured by a hood, carried a backpack worn in front of his body. He entered the gold shop alone and fired at the gold display cases, causing panic among the shop employees and customers, who fled in terror as the mall was nearing its closing time.

The suspect managed to steal a quantity of gold jewelry before fleeing. A mall security guard attempted to pursue him and even recorded a video (see below), but the suspect, who was armed, escaped. The assailant also left behind a suspicious object resembling a bomb, which prompted authorities to cordon off the area. Upon inspection, it was determined to be a fake explosive.

During the investigation, police discovered traces of blood at the scene, believed to have been left by the suspect, possibly cut by glass while grabbing the gold jewelry. The blood samples were collected for DNA analysis. Officials also noted that the suspect used the same escape route as during a previous gold shop robbery in March 2023, during which over 40 baht of gold was stolen. The suspect was never apprehended. The recent incident mirrors the earlier crime in almost every detail, including the timing of the attack, near the mall's closing when foot traffic is low, and the suspect’s appearance and method of escape.

Authorities are currently tracing the suspect’s escape route as the investigation.

Well if it worked once why change it. I think it is really stupid to put these gold shops so close to the Entrance, they should be at the furthest point, but TIT.
