I would like to learn the general Microsoft Office programmes. So far I can use Word and that's about it. Are there classes anywhere or any teach yourself books that people could recommend?

Tons of info and step by step lessons online... try a search for "Microsoft Excel Tutorial" (Or Powerpoint, Access, etc) will get you a lot of hits. Look at a few until you find one that you can "relate" to.
