A foreign language teacher, Robert Leroy K, an American national aged 41, has been arrested in Bangkok for allegedly taking a 14-year-old student to his condominium and abusing her. The arrest followed a report from the girl’s distressed mother, who claimed her daughter was supposed to be studying.

On September 3, 2024, law enforcement officers from the Phetkasem Police Station, under the direction of Pol. Col. Prasong Anmanee and other senior officials, apprehended Keller at his condo in Bang Khae District. Keller faces charges including taking a child under fifteen for indecent purposes and abducting a minor from a parent or guardian.

The girl's mother reported that on February 16, 2024, she had sent her daughter to school as usual. However, after school, the daughter informed her that she would be hanging out with friends. When the mother attempted to contact her daughter around 4 p.m., she received no response, despite making over 20 calls in a span of two hours.

Later in the evening, the daughter returned a call, claiming to be at a shopping mall alone, which worried the mother, as her daughter never ventured far from home without permission. On March 6, 2024, the mother learned from a schoolteacher that Keller had taken her daughter to his condo. A concerned friend of the daughter had reported the incident to the teacher, leading to the discovery.

According to the allegation, once in the condo, Keller acted indecently by holding hands and hugging the girl. The schoolteacher, upon receiving the report from the friend, promptly contacted the mother, who then filed an official complaint with the Phetkasem Police Station.

Police tracked down Keller and arrested him at the condo on September 3, 2024. Keller denied the charges, asserting that the girl was merely there for study purposes.

Keller remains in police custody at Phetkasem Police Station, where the investigation is ongoing. Authorities emphasize the seriousness of the charges and are working diligently to bring the case to a just conclusion.

I am all against any kind of child abuse, and I think that even attempting to have sex with a girl that young is is absolutely heinous. But they did come right out and say that he held hands with her

  • Great. All based on hearsay and gossip.

Just another day in Isan. Police could check every house there

After he is finished with his stay at the luxury resort called the BKK Hilton, and appropriately managed by those folks, please send him to an American Prison.  We have as special welcoming party ready for him and the rest of his life will quite an adventure.

OMG, those perky Americans are committing crimes in Thailand once again? Stricter visa rules are required for citizens of countries like United States, Great Britain, Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, China, Kazakhstan, Korea, etc. to allow them to enter Thailand.

Granted, taking her back to his condo was improper, and very poor judgment, as was holding her hand and hugging her.

The guy is obviously not normal, but is he a pervert?

Is he engaging in child abuse?

Did he molest her?

Those are all very serious questions that need to be asked, and they need to be answered in a rational fashion. Society is way too quick to pronounce judgment in a situation like this. And these are the kind of judgments that can completely destroy a man's life on multiple levels.

But that would probably see a big reduction in tourists visiting Thailand...CANNOT!🙂

and Japan

and Japan

Japan invests multi-billions in Thailand, I don't think insisting on Japanese golfers having to get a Thai visa before travelling would go down very well! There's always Malaysia - Truly Asia instead.😊

Also, the Thais would want to keep it in perspective, XXX,000 Japanese people visit Thaland every year, and probably XXX (number) get in trouble with the law. (Replace Japanese with just about any other nationality).

No problems with this if he is guilty. All speculation and hearsay at this stage.

Those questions can never be answered.  You said it right in the beginning.  Taking her anywhere private where there were only the two of them was idiotic and just asking for the kind of trouble he is now in.

We are in complete agreement about that, it is beyond idiotic, it's downright reckless, but if the girl is not pressing charges, and if the girl is not accusing him of trying to get her naked or have sex with her, then certainly that has to be taken into account.

Charge him for recklessness, or being stupid, but don't charge him for pedophilia. That's a game changer, charges like this have to be very carefully considered, as it will completely destroy the remainder of his life.

It's called grooming... one thing will lead to another given the opportunity.

I'm not clear that any law has been broken in this case.

Well I'm not saying that that's not a possibility, and I'm not trying to imply that that's not what he was doing, as it's very possible. But it's kind of like saying smoking ganja leads to doing heroin. We just don't know, we don't have the facts.

50 years ago behavior like this was considered absolutely normal, these days even talking a young girl is considered totally impermissible. There is a chance that though stupid, and very reckless, that this was very innocent.

You completely ruin a guy's life for committing a major crime, but not necessarily for making a really dumb mistake.
