At approximately 21:00, on September 3, local authorities in Huai Yot District, Trang Province, were alerted to a violent incident in the Wang Sombun area, Village No. 5. The report indicated that a man, later identified as 49-year-old Mr. Chet Bunmak, had become severely agitated and was attempting to assault residents and destroy property.

Officials from the district administration and officers from Huai Yot Police Station promptly responded to the scene in an effort to de-escalate the situation. However, Mr. Chet continued his rampage, brandishing an axe and attempting to attack the responding police officers.

Faced with the immediate threat, police were forced to open fire to neutralise the situation. Mr. Chet was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have coordinated with relevant agencies to conduct a thorough examination of the incident and to process the crime scene. An investigation into the circumstances leading up to the confrontation is ongoing.

Mr. Chet’s family and the local community have been informed of his death as police continue their inquiry.
