Colourful Jellyfish Invade Jomtien Beach: Tourists Advised to Stay Cautious

Tourists at Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, have been urged to be cautious due to a large influx of colourful jellyfish spotted along the coastline. 

 

This phenomenon, observed over the past three to four days at Dongtan Beach, typically occurs during the transitional period between the rainy and cooler seasons, often following stormy weather.

 

According to Wanthap Boonchu, a marine disaster prevention officer in Pattaya, these jellyfish pose no life-threatening danger, but contact with them may cause itching and skin irritation. As a precaution, lifeguards have been instructed to warn beachgoers to be careful while enjoying activities along the shore.

 

 

Kritsana Boonsawas, the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, on September 28, further advised that if anyone comes into contact with the jellyfish, they should immediately rinse the affected area with vinegar to reduce irritation. Despite this being a regular occurrence during this time of year, extra care should be taken to ensure safety.

 

While the jellyfish invasion has not deterred tourists from visiting Pattaya, authorities continue to emphasise the importance of caution and adherence to safety guidelines provided by officials.

Talked to a young Thai on Dongtan beach a couple of years ago.He pointed 3 or 4 farangs out that he took into the sea for a quick flick.

If he's still doing that for a living the jellyfish would be bad for business.

Is that eatable kind of jelly fish?

I often see jelly fish like food sold by some vendors @Chiang Mai Gate Market

in the morning.

In Thailand, some of the harmless jellyfish is consumed as food.

I have seen such dish several times at the local market in Chiang Mai.

I don't know about those in the Op. ( my post was a bit of a joke )

But I have eaten jelly fish here with my wife and step daughter.

All a bit tasteless to me, but they love it.

But I don't know  where they come from, maybe outside of Thailand.

 

Ps I think it's always been in Japanese restaurant's that I have eaten jelly fish here.
