Can you help me to choose a reliable health insurance company (Only Thailand coverage)?

Good morning,

I already searched in several ways, with brokers like Pacific Prime, I also went deeper in a local Thai company (MuangThai Pink) but this last one they did not allow to see the complete policy if not after a person has payed???? So I asked a friend to have a copy of his policy at MuangThai to see what there is written inside and it is graphics format so it cannot be translated. All these things are at least strange...... Better to stay far from this. So I would prefer to stay in a realible company that allow to see the complete policy before signing it. Cigna is good but I need a more affordable and not international but only valid for Thailand.

Can anyone let me know about their experience? I am on my 60's.

Thank you so much!

Email Muang Thai, and ask for the policy. They can send it to you.

As you state, Cigna Global are good (if not the best). However not cheap! The difference seems to be that cheaper companies (at least all those I tried) excluded pre-existing conditions. That included a diagnosed condition that had not recurred for 40 years and had not required any medication since. Only Cigna Global took into account the fact of how long ago it was and that I was not currently receiving treatment. They determined the condition 'resolved' and therefore not excluded.

thank you for your help anyway.

yes the issues are the pre-existing conditions.

I am also looking for a "Thai only "  policy tailored to my specific needs that only includes what I require ( ie hospital stays )

I recently exited Thailand to kill off the OA visa naw have a Non O retirement

Most companies offer International Policies which cover medical expenses abroad and repatriation etc etc which is ALL not required and only bumps up premiums .

So , I looking for Thai Company that can build a Policy to my specific needs .  ( I am 73, in good health and wish to obtain a policy before I reach 75 !!

Just got a nasty shock today. Received an email from my provider (ACS). My  Medical Insurance for 2025-2026 has gone up drastically. From $4814 last year to $5525.

Halfway to my 67th birthday, I'm not sure what to do as it renews on 1st Jan.  With such a short ime to go, I think I will have to bite the bullet and pay it. At least that will give me plenty of time to research other providers to see if I can find a better deal.

The following are the reasons they give.

In a very tense economic context, marked by high medical inflation worldwide, and even more so in South-East Asia, where some of the main hospitals are charging increasingly high rates, our insurer Allianz has informed us that our portfolio is very much in deficit, and has unfortunately forced us to make a sharp adjustment to our health rates in order to ensure the continuity and quality of the cover offered to our policyholders.

Your Health 2025 premium will be indexed at
14%, plus any increase linked to your change of age bracket.
The rates applicable to any optional cover remain unchanged.

Seems like the Thai hospitals are getting like the US ones. I wonder if some will eventually price themselves out of the market. Many providers already don't like to use certain hospitals.

I would keep them as they openly tell you Thai hospitals are a ripoff.

Have you tried to tell them that you will only use Thai Government Hospitals?

What control do you have over which hospital the ambulance takes you to if you are unconscious?

They are usually paid to take you to the most expensive one!

And with elected surgery, they will tell you your chosen hospital is too expensive, and give other alternatives."

As I think mentioned in another post I was told only deal with (Licensed) Brokers, never try and go direct as they will help

I used these people in Thailand to help me though the minefield that is Medical Insurance and was very happy with them  https://www.aainsure.net/pattaya-ps.html

I would avoid Vumi at all costs unless you are desperate for a company that has lost the customer service plot these days.  I was contemplating changing from outpatient to inpatient only and once filling out the form for a new quote they reverted me nearly a month before had to the outpatient policy that I was inquiring about.  they then when this was brought to the attention by myself and the agent that sold it they were wrong they continued to not change it leading to stress and aggravation making me wonder why I paid for what was good insurance with good customer service in the past.  They deny it as being fraud and blame the fact that people make mistakes.  I look at is a fraud plain and simple so we agree to disagree.  Then in the policy renewal these same people continue to cause chaos by sending me requests for information that they have already pre approved and have and that I do not have on hand.  Hopefully the customer service comes back but I would be very careful before taking out a policy with them if you are considering it.
