The incident occurred morning of October 3, in Chiang Mai’s Mae Rim district, where a man was electrocuted and killed while attempting to navigate his motorcycle through a landslip zone. The accident took place along the Mae Rim-Saluang road at approximately 08:15.

According to the Mae Rim district chief, recent heavy rainfall had triggered a minor landslip, causing trees, soil, and vegetation to block the road. The landslip also brought down several electricity poles, resulting in live power cables strewn across the area. Authorities promptly closed the road, issuing warnings to locals not to attempt to pass through.

Despite the closure, the victim, a man believed to be in his 20s, reportedly ignored the warnings. He attempted to walk his motorcycle over the debris while keeping the engine running. Tragically, either he or the motorcycle came into contact with a live high-voltage cable, delivering a fatal electric shock. The resulting surge not only killed the man instantly but also ignited both his body and the motorcycle.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene but were forced to wait until officials from the local electrical authority could isolate the power to the area. By the time responders could safely approach, the fire had already consumed most of the man and his motorcycle, leaving behind severely burned remains.

Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim, and local police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Pictures from responders.

Even when they do put up warnings they're just ignored. Crazy.

The two posts above reeks of poor understanding. Sure the man was stupid as he could have seen the warning signs as he was walking the road. However, if a person looking for mushrooms or just crossing the mountain/forest from the side, not see the sign and hit the same cable? What about the stupid authorities who not cut off electric to the broken live wires? Why not think about that?

So, in your mind, it´s ok to leave electricity on the ground posing a danger and just put up signs. That´s not poor analogy, right? No, it´s comes from a mastermind! 🤣
