In a tense and challenging operation, Chiang Mai police successfully rescued a 104-year-old bedridden man trapped in his home due to severe flooding in the area. The elderly man was stranded on the second floor of his house, unable to escape on his own.

On the morning of October 6,  the Provincial Police Region 5 headquarters reported the rescue mission. Pol. Col. Prachya Tisala, Superintendent of Chiang Mai City Police Station, was contacted by residents in the Night Bazaar area on Chang Klan Road, Chiang Mai, who alerted authorities about the elderly man’s situation.

An urgent flood rescue unit was deployed from Chiang Mai City Police Station, equipped with a boat to navigate through the high floodwaters. After a careful plan was devised, officers carefully waded through the water to reach the man’s house.

Despite the difficulties posed by the rising waters, the team secured the man onto a rescue stretcher and manoeuvred him down the staircase from the second floor and lifted him above the waters onto the boat, to successfully ensure his safety.

The elderly man was temporarily taken to Chiang Mai City Police Station, where he is awaiting reunion with his family.

This rescue highlights the dedication of the local police in responding to the emergency and ensuring the safety of vulnerable residents amid the floods
