Two domestic tourists lost their lives on October 11,  due to a sudden flash flood at Wang Lung Waterfall in Thon Hong Subdistrict, Phrom Khiri District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The tragedy unfolded in the afternoon as a group of five friends gathered to attend a wedding and rented a resort nearby.

According to witnesses, the group decided to take a dip in the waterfall, unaware of the rapidly changing weather conditions that led to the unexpected surge of water. As they were enjoying their time, a sudden rush of water overwhelmed the area, sweeping two of the tourists away.

Local authorities and rescue teams were quickly mobilised to search for the missing individuals. While two managed to escape to safety on their own, locals pulled one person from the water, a 42-year-old woman from Phuket Province, and took her to Phrom Khiri Hospital. However the two other tourists, a 48-year-old woman from Surat Thani Province and a 43-year-old man from Chai Nat Province, drowned and the bodies recovered later.

This incident has cast a shadow over what was intended to be a joyful occasion, highlighting the potential dangers of natural attractions, especially during periods of heavy rainfall. Officials are urging visitors to exercise caution and stay informed about weather conditions when enjoying outdoor activities.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to this devastating event.
