A man was shot inside a restaurant and ran across the road in a desperate attempt to escape, only to collapse and tragically die at the entrance of a police station. Authorities revealed that the killing was not drug-related.

At around noon on October 13, Lt. Kiattisak Saengmanee, an investigator from Kathu Police Station, received a report of a shooting in which the victim had sustained serious injuries. The man ran across the street towards Kathu Police Station but succumbed to his injuries in a nearby alley in Moo 6, Kathu Subdistrict. Police rushed to the scene to help him.

The shooter fled towards Kathu Waterfall in a white sedan, bearing Phuket license plates, with visible damage to the left rear tyre. Officers pursued the vehicle.

As the car slowed near a housing estate, a passenger, who was seated next to the driver, leaped out of the vehicle. Police apprehended the suspect, who was carrying a firearm, while the driver continued fleeing.

The victim, who had attempted to escape into an alley, collapsed and was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital by Kusoldharm Foundation personnel.

Upon investigation, authorities confirmed that the victim had died. The shooter was identified as 32-year-old Thitiphong (surname withheld), who used a semi-automatic CZ 9mm pistol. The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Suvit, also known as “Bang Mat” (surname withheld). The vehicle was later found abandoned near Kathu Fresh Market, and police collected evidence from the scene.

Kathu Police Chief Pol. Col. Rungrit Rattanaprakdee stated that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute between the two parties, who had arranged to meet at a local Isan restaurant to resolve the issue. When the discussion escalated, the suspect fired two shots at the victim.

Col. Rungrit further explained that the victim fled from the restaurant towards the police station, and traffic officers, upon hearing gunfire, rushed to the scene. They pursued the fleeing suspect and successfully apprehended him. The case has been confirmed as a personal conflict, with no involvement of drugs.
