Pattaya Immigration Raid Clears Illicit Migrant Solicitation Ring

In a determined effort to address concerns in Pattaya, Chon Buri immigration officers intensified their crackdown on illegal migrants this weekend. The initiative began after an Arab restaurant owner on Soi 17, South Pattaya, reported that a group, allegedly from Myanmar, was harassing customers by soliciting money and even stealing food.

Promptly responding to these concerns, immigration officers utilised community-shared images and local tips to track the suspects. This led them to an abandoned building where a group was found drinking. Among them was Saw, a 34-year-old Myanmar national, identified as one of the troublemakers by the restaurant owner.

The swift action of the officers was praised by the restaurant owner, who expressed relief as the unwelcome activities impacted both tourists and residents. During the raid, two additional men were detained alongside Saw. All three individuals were found to be in the country unlawfully.

The men were subsequently taken to the Chon Buri Immigration Office for documentation verification and will face legal proceedings before being deported. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain order and safety in Pattaya, safeguarding the community from unwanted activities.
