I am thinking of getting a toy dog as a pal to Cookie, my Golden.

For some time now, I have been vetoed in my desire to get a second dog, but the wife has finally agreed, provided it is a a toy breed.

I once had friend visit with a cross Shu shitzu (spelling??)and Cookie and the doggy visitor played non stop all day, so I know she would love a permanent companion, and it would keep her company when I go away, as I have just done, for 2 weeks.

Can anyone recommend a suitable breed? Should be of a nice disposition and preferably not too much barking. I would prefer a short haired dog, but temperament is more important than other factors.

There also needs to be an availability of the suggested breed in LOS. Price is not an issue.

Thanks :o

Why not call the shelter and ask if they have puppies? Then take your wife there?

Eeeeeeeeeeeek I'm good in manipulation, ain't I?! :o:D

would get her a pal in about jackrusselterrier size, real toy breeds i find too small and fragile to really play with a crazy golden :D

this is a small mix i found as sick puppy in the middle of the mainroad. he outdos all the big ones and is clever, sturdy, affectionate and just wonderful :o

maybe you could find one like that, you will never regret it!

That's a great idea, Elf and Neinke, but I doubt I could get her to go to a shelter. She has this vision of taking the dog with her when she goes up-country. I doubt it'll ever happen like that, but but if I can get a second dog under that 'subterfuge' then that's fine by me.

My Golden is very gentle and docile, and as I said, she played all day with a tiny little thing and the little mutt loved it. It was the first time he had stopped his incessant yapping since the owner had had it. :D

Miniature Schnauzers are a good choice for a companion dog for humans or other dogs, or even a cat, the have such a sweet disposition. Same size as Shis Tsu.

3 8 week old pups available. 1 male, 1 female salt and pepper color, 1 male white (rare) B5000 & B8000

Well Mobi, you know what I will say.

A Chihuahua and if it is a short hair you would prefer then a Smooth Coat would be good.

Fantastic temperament, well mine are anyway, but unfortunately prone to barking, which it would appear, rule it out on this occasion.

Good Luck
