From the scientific method which overcame personal prejudice and relied on investigation under controlled conditions. These marvellous organisations, for our benefit, do this for us, and the links I provided, that you are so reluctant to read, are from their thousands of hours of toil.

This is especially important in this area where addicts are prone to lying. And where people can have considerably different experiences. And the reason I know these latter two points is again because of the scientific method.

so not from personal experience then, just cut and paste from books?
a simple no would have sufficed

You have to be joking. You think they would add something, in order to deter people from taking too much of another substance in the tablet?

...

That's exactly what they do and it's well-known.

Paracetamol is frequently added as a deterrent to abuse, for example dextrometorphane + paracetamol, in order to prevent people from tripping on dextrometorphane (a cough suppressant). Knowledgeable users/abusers will first extract the paracetamol through a process called "cold extraction".

The war on drugs doesn't give a rat's ass about hundreds of thousand deaths in Mexico, you bet it doesn't either about a few thousand of people dying of liver failure following paracetamol poisoning. Staying clean is more important than staying alive.

Note that some tablets, like the delayed release oxycodone, cannot be split nor crushed. If you bang with a hammer on the delayed release oxycodone, the tablets flatten like a chewing gum rather than disintegrate. This is to prevent turning the delayed release tablets into immediate release one that can give you a buzz.

Think I'm fine, I'm on 3 50mg over a 24hr period, I'm going to change 1 tablet to the Ultracet which will lessen my intake, as I've said before I'm taking it slowly slowly.

Dear Rabbit, You have made an important breakthrough realizing taking Tramadol doesn't work for you anymore and it is time to make adjustments.   Have you considered that you are receiving a wakeup call to boycott your false idols and the poisons they dispense and move onto another path?

You are involved in the classic struggle between the physical body's carnal cravings and your nonphysical soul's preprogrammed power. You have twin brothers inside you competing for power.  You have allowed the wild brother to seize control of your decisions resulting in the unpleasant consequences.

An anology is helpful to understand the situation.  The horse (your physical body carnal cravings) has gone wild leaving the jockey  (nonphsical soul which is the seat of your intellect, emotions and personality) powerless holding on for dear life.  You, the jockey, need to regain control of the wild horse.

To do this make a goal for what you want.  Attach positive emotions to it and use your willpower to follow through. Day after day.  Week after week. At the same time attach negative emotions to continue voluntarily poisoning yourself.  Respectfully thank God for turning your objective into reality.  And the magic results you request will happen almost by default.

This has been my method and the results are permanent.

Listen here you ah, ah, Wombat, I can't get them here in lower Issan.

Good idea though, save bending my arm twice a day. Imagine the carnage I could do to myself if I had access to 150 mg single doses

I am also addicted to Tramadol @Badrabbit. I have been battling with it on and off for about 8 years or so. I am presently taking 4 by 50 mg capsules a day all in about 30 minutes in the mid afternoon when my body seems to start aching and my legs and feet get restless and ache. I returned to live in Australia for two and a half years in November 2019 and was forced to give it up there as no Doctor would prescribe it. I remember I was so busy organising my family's move to Oz and actualling travelling then setting up a new home in Oz that I forgot about my daily tramadol dose so gave it up rather easily. Back then I was taking up to 7 capsules [350 mg]. However when I returned to Thailand I gradually started using it again for my various aches and pains. I have a bad back and now have rods and pins in it, I also have an osteoarthritic knee.

I am in the process of weaning myself of them as I am anticipating a trip to Oz coming up. When I first injured my back in Oz around 15 years ago the Doctors were throwing pain killers at me like candy. I would get a script for 6 boxes of 20 Panadeine Forte with 5 repeats so it's any wonder I ended up addicted to opiates. Now they won't even advise you to take a panadol.

Hopefully I can ween myself off them and not relapse as they are easy to get here. I am otherwise healthy, I eat well, have a balanced diet and exercise every day. I drink about 4 small beers an evening before I eat.

Hi, I've got rods and screws and fused from T11 to pelvis. As you say back then drs gave you everything.

Still try and walk 5 to 6km per day but painfull next day and I take the occasional tramadol too.

We'll have to meet up and compare back scars. I've 6. 😉

Sounds like what others have already alluded to, and you know, “withdrawal symptoms “.

You should seek help from an Addiction Center, possibly a Psychiatrist trained or experienced in opiates misuse.

You can have methadone on a sliding scale, reducing over a period of time. Then in between you could agree to having a placebo in between. So that psychologically you will be able to come off the methadone all together without any withdrawal symptoms.

Be aware also that some people suffer from depression after withdrawing from tramadol.

There are specialists who can help, you may have to travel if not available in your area abe prepared to pay a bit. Residential care might be indicated.

Thanks, I'll cope my way, from taking 4 50 mg (24 hours, 1 every 6 hours) tramadol over the last 4 years I have now stopped the 50mg Tramadol capsules, instead I am using Ultracet 3 times in a 24hour period, I have reduced my Tramadol intake from 200mg to 112.5mg, I think I am doing okay, I will continue reducing over time.

I did reduce the Tramadol from 4 to 3 capsules a while back.

I am I want to stop taking Tramadol 100% the trouble is, withdrawel pain is so bad I can't see how I am going to do it.

I have now switched from Tramadol Capsules 50mg to Ultracet which is 37.5mg's plus paracetemol.

If I can take something that will make the withdrawal pain bearable I wouldent have a problem.

Can I get something from a Pharmacy to take once I tottaly stop the Ultracet which will make the withdrawal pain manageable.

I never wanted to take a painkiller, I have always been scared of pain to the point I would do anything to stop it hence my problem.

I am trying my best to reduce, I cannot see how I am ever going g to beat this, I have tried but the withdrawal pain is so bad I take tramadol again.

Can I get medication to stop withdrawal, surely in this day and age there is something, I have read about Buprenorphine is this available in Thailand.

If I can't find a way to cope with withdrawal I will just keep taking Tramadol

This will be my last comment, thanks for all comments, it's good to be able to open up even if it is to an Internet forum audience.

There are medications which can help with withdrawal as previously mentioned. These are largely not pain killers but will help control withdrawal symptoms.  However this is not something to do ond your own, it is complex. You need to see a physician specializing in addiction pyschology. There is an excellent one in Bangkok.

If you have already switched from 3 × 50 mg tramadol to 3 ultracet a day you have already reduced your intake by about 25%. Do not try to rush this process or to stop abruptly   that's a prescription for failure.

Is the Paracetemol a problem in Ultracet, how long should I take the Ultracet for.

3 tabs a day, spaced at least 4 hrs apart, is OK unless you have impaired liver disease.

I'd take the 3 doses until you are feeling OK then try decreasing to 2 doses spaced 8-12 hours apart.  If that isn't tolerable then you'll have to revert to tramadol capsules and divide contents in half to get 25mg. You can get empty gelatin capsules on Shoppee or Lazada.

You are making this unnecessarily for yourself  difficult by not consulting specialist.

I know I am making it difficult, I want to do this on my own, I got myself into this, I want to get myself out of it.

Thanks.
