We have had a couple of reports of people getting a 5 year license with a DTV, I haven't seen any report of people only getting 2 years.
Ben Zioner Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I movedm "Thai wife" to LTR when it came out. But if I had to chose between "Thai wife" and DTV id wouldn't consider the latter. I am too old to consider "forced travel". 1

This new DTV works absolutely perfect for ME in my situation, still working FiFo in the Oil & Gas game. 5 years, no yearly extensions, no 90 day reports required, no re-entry required, absolutely perfect 🙂 nothing to worry about for 5 years....game changer for me 🙂 Hi, To my knowledge you ARE required to file a 90 day report. 1

So, you don't want to get a reentry to simplify things, but a tourist visa extension ok?? Imo if you want or need to be in Thailand it's a bad idea. My experience from pre marriage was visa running had become an expensive bore so hope you have a second or third home. Finally, I think keeping the visa for over two years will be a problem for all but Muay Thai trainees and people with families/ wives. Expect hassles over baking cookies for five years. Also expect to show finances at some point entering the country imo. Imo you'll always enter as a tourist unless you've got a job outside. Can't imagine wife would be happy with that situation. Pretty random. Edited November 3 by IC2000

Right now, if pass away, the 400K I have in Bangkok Bank cannot be easily transferred to my Thai wife. It should be easy but it's not. I'm here on a marriage visa and that's been working fine for me except for the fact that most of my funds are stuck in a Thai bank account that can't be shared with my wife. Officially not. Why don't you make that account online so your wife can transfer that money within 30 seconds of your demise?!

The account is a standard Bangkok Bank account and I access it via their phone app all the time. She can get that money out of there if she operates fast enough. Is that what you mean?

BKK Bank is one of the few who still offers Online banking from your PC or Laptop and not only via an App. It should be doable via the app as well, of course. Don't forget to up the transfer limit per day which is 50 K in Standard settings. But - with any amount over 50K they want to compare the picture which you left at the bank, so its several transactions then.
Carsten07 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 The Photo thing is a strain on the brain. Before you could transfer any amount (up to 2 Mio i think) as long as the recipient was the same bank. Because the money is still in their hands... But now, even from one BKK Bank account to another BKK account they want to compare the pics. If over 50K, of course

If I become incapacitated but can still use my phone, the scenario you describe could work but even so, 50K per day would take 8 days to Tx 400K baht. Do you have direct knowledge of how the photo verification works? Another possibility is if I were killed in a motorcycle accident, in which case that scenario won't work. Because of the uncertainty and gotchas inherent in dealing with a Thai bank, or indeed with any Thai organization, my goal now is to use monthly money transfers to guarantee my financials. My only question is whether immigration in Chiang Mai will accept transfers done through Wise as opposed to wire transfers which are both tedious and expensive. Others on this forum have said they will accept them but the proof is in the pudding.
