Chonburi Immigration Police recently conducted a targeted operation to apprehend illegal foreign workers residing in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, following complaints from local residents. The operation was led by Police Colonel Napaspong Kosit Suriyamanee, the Director of Chonburi Immigration, after reports surfaced of migrant workers causing disturbances by gathering and drinking late into the night, disrupting neighbourhood peace.

The immigration team divided into two units and conducted a thorough search of local makeshift housing. Some individuals attempted to flee, while others were caught off guard in various states of routine activity. The majority of those detained, approximately 50 people, were from Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. They were transported to the Chonburi Immigration Office, where their documentation was thoroughly checked.

While most detainees possessed valid work permits and visas, three individuals were found to be in Thailand illegally. Among them was one Laotian man who confessed to entering the country illegally three months ago to work as a day labourer. He explained that the higher wages in Thailand, where he earned 500 baht per day, allowed him to send money back home to support his parents. In contrast, he would only earn around 200-300 baht a day in Laos, insufficient to cover his family’s needs.

The Laotian man was charged with illegal entry and unauthorized employment, while two Myanmar women were charged with unlawful entry. All three will be prosecuted and subsequently deported. Chonburi Immigration officials pledged to continue efforts to clear the region of illegal labor under directives from higher authorities.

They need these foreign workers for construction and doubt they make any more noise than the Thai construction workers. At least most were legally employed.

Why not continue by jailing their employer.

I am in a  rural area where there are thousands (literally) working in construction & agriculture.

Thailand needs these people that work for 5,000 Bht a month & a roof over their head (If you can call it a roof).

The Government has no idea of the numbers up here working in the fields, or do they & just do not want to rock the boat ?????

I doubt that he's sending money back home to his parents if he getting drunk, disturbing the peace for the cops to be called.
