Georgealbert
A fire broke out at Sultan Restaurant, an Indian dining establishment on Soi 13/4 along Pattaya Beach Road, causing panic among tourists. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Upon receiving the emergency call, Pattaya City Police coordinated with the local fire department and rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation to respond swiftly to the incident. The restaurant, a four-story building comprising seven commercial units, had smoke billowing from the upper floors while the fire blazed on the ground level. Tourists, both Thai and foreign, were seen rushing out and gathering outside to watch the situation unfold. Firefighters and rescue personnel located the fire’s source, an electrical breaker box on the ground floor, where flames had spread close to a large gas cylinder. Using chemical extinguishers, the firefighters managed to subdue the flames, followed by water hose-line to completely douse the remaining areas of fire, once the electricity had been isolated. Within 30 minutes, the situation was under control, leaving only residual smoke. Eyewitness Udom Natthawil, 54, recounted that before the fire started, there were three large explosions of sparks. The first burst of sparks saw electrical wires into the restaurant catch fire. Bystanders initially attempted to extinguish the fire using handheld extinguishers at the breaker panel on the ground floor. However, after further blasts of sparks, the flames surged up the building’s wiring and ductwork, reaching the third floor. The fire department and rescue teams quickly intervened, stopping the fire’s spread before it could reach nearby businesses and buildings. Electricity authorities were notified to cut the power to prevent further escalation. Local officials are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the electrical fire. Gsxrnz
"Local officials are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the electrical fire." Occam's Razor would suggest dodgy wiring. And there isn't even a plausible competing hypothesis.
