Abortion - the last electoral dance

First - I'm comfortable with UK abortion law. I'd prefer that contraception would just do the heavy lifting but if a woman wants to terminate; okay.

Iowa six week limit seems to be causing a potential problem for the GOP. Women are angry. But the answer lies at state level and it's up to women, with male allies, to elect a legislature that will extend the limit.

And that's why I suggest this is the last dance for abortion as a national issue. Many states now have laws in place which resonate with women. By 2028 more states will join that roster.

All politics are local. And if local laws suit you, you will walk off the battlefield.

But is Iowa the canary in the coal mine for Trump? For many there will be a delicious irony in his "greatest achievement" of having three Supreme Court justices appointed blowing back with electoral defeat as women avenge Roe v Wade.

I agree with this - American pro-choice  women will win at state level

False. Trump would have it in his power to restrict the use of mifepristone which is one of the 2 drugs used to chemically induce an abortion along with misoprostol It can be done with misoprostol alone but it's more effective when both are used. Of course, the FDA can also take steps to make it more difficult to acquire misoprostol.

In addition to which a Harris Presidency could result in the reversal of the Dobbs decision if conservative justices leave the court to be replaced by progressive ones.

If abortion is 'the issue' for someone, then Megan Kelly gives good advice ....

... USA is a democratic Republic :coffee1:

Don't like the laws of life in you state or country, then MOVE.  It's easy, I did, so anyone can 😎

One of the great ironies of this kerfuffle is the fact Muslim laws on abortion are far more liberal than right-wing Christian nationalists.

A pregnancy can be terminated up to four months, when the fetus is considered to acquire a soul.

Perhaps that's a ridiculous belief, but IMO no more addle-pated than the concept male clerics, politicians and lawmakers have any right to tell women what to do with their bodies.

More liberal or more brutal ?  Not much of a surprise, as they seem to have no value or respect for life.

Not sure what Muslim / Sharia law has to do with USA politics and state laws.

Edit: seems most (allowing abortions) do allow abortions in 3rd trimester.  That's quite the surprise.  May be restricted for health reasons, as didn't read the particulars, since I don't care.

Kind of makes you wonder what people are crying about.  With few state exceptions, you can kill your baby in most states up to about 20 week or 4 or 5 months.  Not much of a political issue, with or without Roe vs Wade.

... DISTRACTION ...

Thanks for not sharing a link to what you posted. That lack should greatly bolster everyone's confidence in it.

I guess I give people a bit more credit than you do.  Is it really that hard to Google ... "us state law abortion allowed 3rd trimester"

I think the screenshot gives more info than needed.  Unless of course you think I actually created the screenshot, typed all that on a black background.   Is that what you're really implying ... no source, must be fake :coffee1:

You guys are a crack up ... source or link.

Instead of just admitting, Muslim / Sharia Law isn't more liberal than some, most states, possibly.

I guess I should have asked for a link or source for that post :cheesy:

.... AH ... FAKE NEWS ...

Before we built a house , i was paying 3000 bht pm for a apt in Sakon.
