I've been looking for this year (they change every year/season) for a pre-paid [name your carrier] xxmbps unlimited 1 year sim card and found this number one candidate. It is with True which I haven't used before. I have used both dtac and AIS unlimited sims in the past and they're both fine. I have got input from a couple of folks in regards to True performance, one says it's unreliable/spotty and slow, the other says reliable and fine (in term of speed). This sim is to be used in my iPad which stands in as a "personal hotspot.: Anyone has experience with this sim or with True in general in term of performance? Your input is appreciated, thank you much in advance.

Have you considered obtaining a normal TRUE SIM and finding out for yourself, before committing to a longer term?

Great idea, will do. Thanks

My wife was on TRUE, problem was, when we went to her home village, connection was spotty.  Changing to AIS, connection was clear, clean and steady.

Consider a contract with fixed amount of voice and data - depending on contract terms, going over "data limit" means slower data stream OR extra charges for you. The MAJORITY  of my data is over my home WiFi, the exception being my US phone number also works over my mobile data when I am away from my / any connection to WiFi.

As you can pick up the 12month sim's for very reasonable prices it pays to consider having a couple of cards from different providers, especially if like myself you are moving around a bit.

I have had True subscription for around 300 baht/month with 1,5 GB (more than enough for me) for over 10 years. Happy with their service, never had a problem, never had no signal.

Can i ask what you're using 1,5 gb for. Checking email, browsing webistes, or watching youtube constantly all day all the time? Any slowing down watching youtube?

I am mostly "under wifi". Outside I use it for e-mail, maps, low data kind of stuff. And I have neither Fakebook nor Instagram.

I had a True SIM for a few years but found the coverage was patchy. I decided to switch to AIS about a year ago. The coverage appears to be much better with AIS.

Any feedback?

Those sim package  (1 day/week/month cited above only work if you have e-wallet or something like that in order to renew,) which farangs are not allowed to have. Now come to think of it, if for testing only then I don't need to renew do I? anyway I think I will have to just jump for the 1 yr unlimited since it's the only option available right now.

Any other option/courier you can think of please share.

I have had AIS since my first VISIT to Thailand 12 years ago. It also worked fine when I went back to the US ( roaming ) for 3 months before I came back. At that time I was buying expensive top up via the net.

Ubpn returning and staying in Th, I changed to a contract ( BEFORE retirement extension ) with the following:

WE have 3 sims - mobile's were upgraded to 5G, fiber WiFi  ( 5G) and cable TV - basically unlimited service ( I have never received extra or over charges ) my cost NEVER being OVER 1620bt monthly - including 2 weeks roaming in USA. My payments are made via AIS APK.

So you did nothing, other than to find excuses for doing nothing 😊

Hoping for the best is certainly a strategy 😊

There are alternatives, but if you have good reception from True, you won't need them. But since you have bypassed the test phase, it seems unlikely that you will test the other options either, instead preferring a Lucky Dip.
