Hows that work then?

Police are reviewing it but the shop has not been made public.

Hope he wasn't wearing a 100k baht gold necklace.....but seriously, beating up a customer is beyond the pale. Presumably they got CCTV or will it be found to not have been switched on :whistling:

Where did it report that the staff beat up the customer?  The OP said that an outsider did that.

Sounds like the more serious assault took place inside the store "throwing him out and down the stairs" good job the victim is not important only a tourist

No, that was not reported at all, completely the opposite, in fact...

"One employee reportedly pushed Mr. Chandhok outside, where an unidentified man then allegedly struck him, causing him to fall and sustain further injuries.

witness mentioned that the employee’s aggressive language escalated the situation, and the outside man’s assault caused Mr. Chandhok to fall down the store’s steps, breaking his leg".

There is a slight possibility that some item was scanned but not put into the bag, I once thought that had happened to me, but of course I also thought my own absent mindedness could be to blame.

Indians can be very argumentative and I can see that getting the  workers in the shop irritated too.... throw in language confusion!

Agreed... that combined with a possible underlying racist attitude toward the 'Khaek'...

It doesn't matter where the customer was from, it seems the staff escalated the issue because they were unable to handle a confrontational discussion when the Indian guy complained that he had not received his full order.

A couple of times check girls have added an item or two for themselves and hoped I didn't notice. For self amusement I like to total the items in my head prior to check out, sometimes put exact amount on counter which dumbfounds them.... So when I point out the "extras" for staff I get a "tee hee" and lame apology.

Counting in your head how quaint and old fashioned I'm sure most of us especially uk where our imperial Counting system would baffle most of the world when you was told your items came to one £ one and onepence happny
