Lestat777
Hello everyone, Can I send the 400,000 baht needed for the non o visa to my wife's Thai account from my foreign account and then transfer that into my Thai bank account and have it count as having been deposited from a foreign account? Will showing that her account received the money from a foreign account suffice? Thank you

Upnotover
Why, tax fears? You are still liable irrespective of where you send it if it constitutes assessable income.

Just transfer the 400k to your Thai bank account No it's not from tax fear. I just thought it would be easier to access the money to transfer it from the bank I would open the account at. I have fear about being able to transfer the money from my USA account into the Thai bank account. I'm also trying to get the money to Thailand before an unscrupulous debt collector tries to seize the money from my account. They bought up an old debt that doesn't exist anymore and I couldn't attend the court date to challenge it due to a serious brain injury. What do you need to show immigration? Do you show them a bank statement that shows the transfer arrived from a foreign account?

I figured out when I first got to know wise, if I transferred more than 60k every month, it would be cheaper with bank to bank transfer, and since Im on average 90k a month, it would be alot more expensive than bank to bank to use wise. So why on earth will transfering with wise be an good idea? I guess he can change bank for free who support hassle free bank to bank transfer and a bank who cooperate with BKK bank or any other branch

The options for transferring funds is discussed extensively in "banking , finance .." forum. MANY folk use WISE. You can easily compare various methods on your cell in couple of minutes. Keep in mind can also depend upon country you are transferring from. Here is one thread USA specific. For the OP it's not to significant as it's a one time transfer. And I found wise ok for smaller amounts, than larger monthly transfers. So, as you says, other parameters is the bank branches you use, and orign country which I didn't knew made a difference Edited 2 hours ago by Hummin
