A man armed with a knife caused chaos at Tha Chatchai Police Station in Phuket during the early hours of November 17. The suspect attacked a police officer before fleeing the scene and later being involved in a car crash in Phang Nga Province.

The incident occurred at approximately 02:50 while Pol. Lt. Col. Akkaraphon Siwilai, an investigator at Tha Chatchai Police Station, was on duty. The suspect, identified as Mr. Chuaib, entered the station's reception area wielding a knife and exhibiting erratic behaviour. He kicked down the door to the officers' work area, prompting Pol. Lt. Col. Akkaraphon to intervene to protect civilians waiting there.

During the confrontation, the suspect attacked Pol. Lt. Col. Akkaraphon with the knife, leaving him with injuries above his left eyebrow and on his left arm. The wounds required a total of eight stitches. The suspect then fled the station before authorities could apprehend him.

Investigators later tracked Mr. Chuaib to Phang Nga Province, where he was involved in a traffic collision and hospitalised at Phang Nga Hospital. Authorities confirmed his identity and are gathering evidence to prosecute him.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong Thanomjit, Commissioner of Police Region 8, has directed Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum, Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, to oversee the investigation personally. He also visited the injured officer to provide encouragement and ensure that all necessary welfare benefits are provided.

If ever there was a time to use your gun, that was it.

Apparently there were many people present. So maybe not a good time to use a gun.

Looks like none of the civilians eas injured and one officer, only slightly. The perpetrator was apprehended, so all in all looks like a case well handled.
