Yep, Driving and stopping a Loaded Truck can be a challenge sometimes.

The stopping distance of a fully loaded semi-truck can vary based on several factors, including the truck's weight, speed, road conditions, and the type of brakes used. However, a general estimate can be provided.

Weight: A fully loaded semi-truck can weigh up to 80,000 pounds (approximately 36,287 kilograms).

Speed: For example, at 60 mph (about 97 km/h), the stopping distance can be significant.

Braking Distance: The average braking distance for a fully loaded semi-truck at 60 mph is approximately 300 feet (about 91 meters), though this can vary.

Total Stopping Distance: The total stopping distance includes the perception and reaction time of the driver (typically about 1.5 seconds). For a truck traveling at 60 mph, this adds roughly 132 feet (about 40 meters) to the stopping distance.

Summary

Braking distance at 60 mph: ~300 feet

Total stopping distance (including reaction time): ~432 feet (approximately 132 meters)

These values can change based on road conditions (wet, icy, etc.), brake condition, and driver reaction time.

I often see this with brigdes here. The inside lane suddenly becomes a footpath along the bridge. No markings. No gradual build. Just bam! Footpath.
