That is the first and only answer I have heard as to why it is not available .   Probably never will be available --  it has been like this for many years.

What is special about this Whisky ???

 

I understand that someting such as a Bulleit Bourbon or Woodford Reserve is excellent for an Old Fashioned.

... that a Macallan 12 year (or much better) is great neat...   and that a JW black-label goes well with a coke etc...  or even a Jack D if that flavour is preferred... 

 

But, with any of the above, if they are not available, there is always a very good alternative available. 

 

So...   what is special about Crown Royal - that it makes so sought after by some in this thread ?

If never had, give a try if available, as it is pretty tasty.   And I'm not a whiskey drinker (neat or on the rocks), and about the only one I'll do shots of.

 

Like Jameson also, and discovered that while making my own Bailey's in TH.

BTW - for some inexplicable reason, Jamesons is one of the most bootlegged Whiskey's in Thailand...   so I now steer clear of it in bars...

Actually bootlegged or watered down, even swapped out with something else.  Whiskey is something I wouldn't order in a bar in TH, or the USA, as some do the same there.

 

Crown and Jameson has too much of a distinct taste for a regular drinker not to notice.  Haven't a clue of other whiskeys or spirits, and never got into them.  Only in mixed drinks.

When out and about with mates, quite often there is only so much beer I can stomach before I'm too full... 

I'll switch to neat Whisky - thats when I can tell.

... the go to is usually JW Black Label or Jamesons...    After  encountering so much bootlegged JW Black Label I started going for Jamesons, but found that too is bootlegged quite often...     its just easy to tell as they both have a distinct taste....

 

I'm not out in the 'rubbishy bars too often anymore, so its less noticeable' and the good bars allow us to buy a bottle and keep it there...

@richard_smith237 Richard, I cannot give you a definitive answer.  You guys from across the pond have been so privileged in having such great single malt and blended whiskies (malted barley and yeast).  Blended Scot is better for some people, but I've never liked it.  Yall have such a variety.

Some Americans like and can drink Bourbon whiskey, which is a corn (maize) concoction. I'm not a fan.

Canadian whiskies are just a smoother blend (corn and rye, but also sometimes wheat or barley).  I personally can tell the difference between Canadian Club and Crown Royal.  VO to me is very near the  taste of Crown.  All three are good with coke, but especially Crown and Crown is good to drink neat, but when blended with coke most of us North Americans who drink whiskey favor Crown. (Maybe it's just the name and the bottle shape). 5555🤣
