I also went and got a TIN today and guess what? It's not the same number on my Pink ID card/YTB.

No one including the so-called experts have a clue on all these forms and non tax forms!!!

Mine is 13 digits in the same format as the Thai ID number, starts with a 0 (zero).

My Pink ID card has the same 15-digit number as Tin which I do not have and no 0 the fist digit

Hmmm, are you quite sure it's 15 digits? The standard Thai ID format is 13 digits arranged like this "X XXXX XXXXX XX X".

Unless something has changed recently of course.

If you do not have a TIN, how do you know its number?

I don't know what you guys are talking about but if for an ID number starts with 6 Tax ID number start with 099

Correct

13 digits on pink Ud same as Thai ID
Corrected and had to look it up again and so sorry but again there is confusion all round and not just on the ID cards but when and if tax forms are out and well end of November and so many experts who know nothing at all!!!

And presumably your COVID vaccination certificates contain a 13-digit ID number which is different from those on your pink ID and TIN cards!😆

Not so!!!

My 3 years old TIN card has 13-digit # starting with 099.  Format is 099-x-xxxxxxxx-x.

I've given it to 3 Thai banks and I have no tax withheld on savings accounts.

Same here! I applied for the TIN, around 3 years before I got my PID, and the numbers are not the same

I submitted the Lor.Por.10.1 when I applied today. My TIN begins with a 0 (zero) and my Pink ID begins with a 6.

I have definately been told by my local tax office my pink Id would be acceptable but then several times, they asked me about my financial situation and stated that I would not need to file a tax form even so the pink ID could be used if my income was above the threshold m which it is not and do not work in Thailand!!!

I put my Thai pink card number on the FATCA form sent by Kasikorn Bank. Staff at the bank did not question it.

If it's not the same as a TIN, not my problem.

So, sorting out Tax ID today for the upcoming probable tax implications and in direct response to the request from Kasikorn Bank to provide Tax ID.

Can I ask why did Kasikorn request you provide a Tax ID? Was it because you are trying to claim back tax paid on interest or do you think it was for another reason?

As stated in the email and posted in various places, Kasikorn Bank MUST comply with changing banking and financial regulations, in order to conform those details are required. Which is why thousands of expats have received the same email.

Fair enough although I haven't seen an email. My banks, Krungsri and Bangkok bank have not mentioned anything to me.

Yes. The "covid ID" is a different number, presumably because at the time I didn't have a Pink ID or TIN.

You absolutely correct they are different!!!

Years ago, my local tax office told me that, since I had no income from Thailand, there was no need to register for income tax. I left it at that.

Now, things are different and it's remittances into Thailand that are considered. I remit money into Thailand (of course) so I'll try to register.

My query - if I go to the local tax office and am again told, for whatever reason, that registration isn't necessary yet one day in the future the TRD says "You didn't register and now you owe LOTS of back taxes", what proof would I have that I attempted to register and was refused? Tax evasion is a serious offence and maybe non-registration is, too. IMO, lack of proof of attempted registration could lead to all sorts of <snip>!!

My first COVID certificate had a 13 digit number that wasn't my PID card number, alongside my passport number. On certificate 2, the 13 digit number was changed to my PID card number at my request and was shown alongside my passport number. Certificate 3 (showing all 3 shots) had PID card number only.

The vaccination certificate is yet another 13 digit number 🙂

Consistently inconsistent, welcome to Thailand!

Let me start this off with the usual caveat that situations and regions etc may vary as is the norm with Thailand. Rarely is there a "one size fit all"

So, sorting out Tax ID today for the upcoming probable tax implications and in direct response to the request from Kasikorn Bank to provide Tax ID. I visited a Thai accountant today, and within s very short space of time my official tax id was sorted. It is exact;ly the same number on my Pink ID card or in my Yellow tabien bahn.

Nice to know of yet another use for these often decried items.

Yes, your TIN number is same as ID-number, but earlier – perhaps it is still so – you needed to register for income tax, before the ID-number became a valid TIN.

I got my TIN in 1997 and pink ID in 2005. I just compared the two and they're not the same number.

Or maybe because you, like myself, obtained initial COVID jabs courtesy of the British Chambers of Commerce Thailand, rather than through official Thai channels?
