Patong Resort Hotel

Hi

Panning a trip to Thailand for about 10 days just after christmas. So all the hotels I have looked at are so expensive during that time.

I have come accross an ok rate for The Patong Resort Hotel. Has anyone stayed here and can reccommend what it is like??

stayed there in april 07. Nice room.Not far from everything in Patong.Cool pool.Most guests are Caucasians. Coffe house breakfsst is shameful though.Not a great variety of food servings and non local stuff ..surprisingly.Anyway food is easy to find just a few mins walk.Nite scene is wonderful.Hotel staff does not speak English that well.Ask for soap properly otherwise they say 'no serve soup today,sir". I like the quiteness of the place. Nice nite coziness at the balcony with a beer ...hope to return soon. Price?...Could not bother cos company paid!...Hope little feedback is helpful to you...BTW,heard that it is not girl friendly...but did not venture into that the last trip.Friends found out that the joiner fee in April was Bht700 only. Noticed that the security is relaxed after midnite though...could have sneaked in a dozen girls if I wanted..anyway i am sure there is a way to the pocket of the nite security if he happens to be around at the lobby.Only security was at the main road entrance leading to the long driveway to the room wings.And i suppose only authorised vans or cars are checked.Guess if you proceed properly with a gal and just enter as normal the guard wouldn't bother. have fun.

Yeah I will be travelling with my girlfriend, so I don't think I will have any probs with that.

Check out the Burasari Resort also on Patong. If you book through Air Asia's Go Holiday Package you can get a real good rate! I have stayed there twice now and it's great! Lovely pools and great buffet breakfast. At the quieter end of Patong but still walking distance to every thing!

I do not recommend this hotel. Stayed there this year while waiting for my apartment. Suggest you closely read reviews at tripadvisor.com Hotel seems adequate during low season, but as soon as there are guests, it is horrible. You can rent a short stay apartment for 1/2 the cost or find a better hotel nearby. Check out the Holiday Inn. It has received excellent reviews.

Food is awful. It gets alot of low end package tours. We had the pleasure of a fistfight between two drunks outside the door, kids running wild up and down the hall screaming for an hour every morning starting at 7 am, and lager louts that thought exposing their penises to the women at the pool was good fun. The last idiocy was ended when a pretty girl had enough and told the jerks to come back when they had something to show.
