A motorcycle accident occurred at 17.20 on December 4, on the Heliport intersection on Suvarnabhumi Road 3. The incident involved a black-and-red Yamaha motorcycle colliding with the rear of a Toyota Alphard. The impact caused the 28-year-old Myanmar motorcyclist to fall into a canal beside the road.

At the time, employees of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), who were returning home from their duties at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), witnessed the incident and immediately rushed to assist the victim. They successfully rescued the injured motorcyclist from the water, using an old door as a stretcher.

Suvarnabhumi Airport’s security centre quickly coordinated with emergency rescue services to provide first aid and arranged for the injured individual to be transferred to Chularat 3 Hospital for further medical treatment.

Four Suvarnabhumi Airport employees were involved in the rescue effort:

1. Mr. Ratchadet Komanan, Senior Administrator (Level 7) for Aircraft Parking Management, Airside Services Division, Airside Operations Department, Operations Line 1.

2. Mr. Narin Yenthakham, Senior Airport Operations Officer (Level 6), Airside Safety Operations Division, Airside Operations Department, Operations Line 1.

3. Mr. Pongthep Jantaklom, Senior Environmental Officer (Level 6), Environmental Operations Division, Environmental Department, Engineering and Construction Line.

4. Ms. Manatchanok Leksakul, Security Officer (Level 1), Traffic Division, Security Department, Operations Line 1.

Suvarnabhumi Airport has expressed its profound admiration for the bravery, compassion, and selflessness demonstrated by the employees involved. Their actions not only reflect their dedication to helping others in need but also enhance the positive image of the organisation.

Suvarnabhumi Airport thanks these employees for their exemplary service and commitment to humanity, reminding us all of the importance of compassion and community spirit.

Well done. But bravery? Were their actions not what one should expect from fellow human beings?

The word heroism is misused and bandied about these days. A person just doing something to assist their fellow human beings is considered a hero. Like the person who phoned the police when he recognized the alleged CEO killer in the USA. He was called a hero by the police commander. Perhaps anyone crossing Sukhumvit during rush hour should be called a hero.
