That Thai ID-only is a PITA as well. With the last couple of DTAC purchases, their SIM registration app kept failing, so I just dropped by the local DTAC store with my passport and was registered, activated and on my way in a couple of minutes.

 

It looks like a very, very dynamic market, so appreciate your efforts on keeping on top of the changes.

I guess once you have determined that you are happy with the service, you can top up once for the rest of the 12 month period.
