Motorcyclist Killed in Crash After Losing Control on Curve in Samut Prakan

Police from the Samut Prakan City Police Station received a report at approximately 21.00 on December 7, of a fatal motorcycle crash involving a garbage truck in Soi Khajornwit, near the curve before the Baan Ua Athorn housing project in Phraeksa Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Prakan Province. Rescue teams from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and Ruamkusol Foundation were dispatched to the scene.

 

The crash occurred on a long curve on a two-lane road. At the scene, authorities found a white Foton garbage truck with license plate from Bangkok parked on the roadside. The truck had a dented front plate, a broken left fog light, and a damaged bumper. In front of the truck lay the lifeless body of Mr. Chaiwichit Channiam, 47, face down in a pool of blood. He had severe head and facial injuries. Nearby, his red Honda PCX motorcycle, license plate from Bangkok, was found damaged, with scratches, a torn seat, and bent handlebars.

 

Witnesses stated that the deceased had been riding side by side with another motorcycle. He lost control on the curve, hit the curb, and slid into the garbage truck. The truck driver, Mr. Paphatthanakorn Khumnojan, 61, explained that he was en route to collect garbage in Bang Kaeo when the victim’s motorcycle lost control, collided with the curb, and hit his truck.

 

A witness, Ms. Fon, recounted, “I was riding ahead when I heard the crash. I turned back and saw someone injured, so I immediately called the authorities. He was twitching slightly but was unresponsive. It seemed like he had already lost consciousness.”

 

Another witness, Mr. Montree Choocherd, said, “The victim was racing with another motorcycle. When he lost control on the curve, the other bike kept going and didn’t return. This curve often sees accidents, and it seemed like they had been racing from the beginning of the street.”

 

The victim’s wife, Ms. Yui, 45, arrived at the scene in tears. She shared that her husband worked overtime that evening and last contacted her around 20:30. She said, “He usually drives cautiously. He’s never been in an accident before. Last week, he said something unusual to our child: ‘If I’m not around, take care of your mom because I’m tired.’ He had never said anything like that before.”

 

Authorities documented the scene and took the garbage truck driver in for further questioning. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to determine the exact cause of the crash. The victim’s body has been sent to Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute at Ramathibodi Hospital for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.

He won't do that again..

Im not buying that “racing” story by the witness. People see two bikes side by side they assume racing or about to race. CCTV will perhaps get a better story than the witness.
