Massive Fire at Biomass Power Plant in Phichit
Picture from responders. On the evening of January 20, a large-scale fire broke out at a biomass power plant in Phichit province, Thailand, engulfing over 1,000 tonnes of compressed biomass fuel. The incident occurred at the Thip Phichit Hybrid Energy Company power plant, located in Moo 6, Thung Pho Subdistrict, Taphan Hin District. The blaze, which began at around 22:00 rapidly spread through piles of compressed straw and biomass fuel. Firefighters from nearby areas, supported by the Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescue team, responded swiftly, deploying 15 fire engines to combat the flames. The facility, a 26-megawatt hybrid biomass power plant, officially commenced operations on December 28, 2022, and supplies 21 megawatts of electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). It utilises agricultural waste, including rice husks, sugarcane leaves, sugarcane bagasse, and wood chips, as its primary fuel sources, supporting sustainable energy production while reducing the nation’s reliance on imported fuels. In addition to its contributions to renewable energy, the power plant has had a significant impact on the local community. Approximately 80% of its workforce comprises local residents, fostering employment and economic development in the region. Moreover, the facility has established a development fund to support community initiatives within a five-kilometre radius of the plant. Fire crews continue their efforts throughout the night to bring the blaze under control and prevent the fire from spreading to other areas of the plant. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. -- 2025-01-22 -

Patong - The Wake
When this thread started, it was post Covid and things in Patong were down and dreary, so it fit. But a refresh, new thread IMO, is a good idea. Something along the lines of "Live from Patong" or "Whats the haps Patong". Anyway, I think you get my drift, someone else can come up with something snappy.. Xylo, is the Churrasco place in Soi Gemstone? I remember selling them cheap Argentinian reds back in the day, but am pretty sure that one went under during Covid. -

Every border should be "policed" like an Airport. Scan everything! You'll never stop this drug importation without it.- 1
